My FIRST Major Dump!!

Well Guys, It finally happened.  I had my first major dump since surgery. I went to lunch with my mother to Olive Garden to try that new  Lasagna Rolotenni thingy.  Me and my mom usually split a meal so this was supposed to be perfect. Unfortunately, I thought I would have some of the salad and I cut it up real small and chewed the hell out of it.  It didn't take too long and I could tell that the salad was going to take some time to pass so I stopped eating until I felt it pass. Well I started taking a bit here and there of the Lasagna and literally within a minute of my second bite it hit me. I made a beeline straight for the bathroom and revisted my lunch choices. Oh Well!  Now I know that salad is a bad thing for now and also take your medication before your meal and not during.  I wasted a days worth of meds when I dumped. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it !!! LOL This is how we learn, RIGHT??? Take Care Guys.

May have been the salad dressing. But, yeah some times that is how we learn. You are braver than me I didn't eat any kind of noodle or pasta till almost ten months or so out.  pan head

I never dumped, but if I eat too many fats, I get explosive bowel movements.  I posted about this when I first had surgery but the gals insisted that's not dumping.  Well, I may no dump, but if I don't eat properly I have to take a dump.  This also happens when I drink to close to my meal times.  A few sips don't trigger it but I've got to be careful.

Are you sure you dumped and just didn't eat too fast?  I know as an early post op DSer I threw up 3 or 4 times because I just ate too fast....and while my stomach was bigger then a RNY pouch, it was still very swollen, and food didn't go down so fast. it took me about 3 months to get it down "pat" Scott

Glad you are feeling better.  It takes time for us to learn what we can and cannot eat.  I have only been out to eat once since surgery.  Afraid I would not not make it to the restroom in time if something did happen.  Hang in there man!

probably more like the pasta. foods that can expand will do just that in your gut. plus, the combination of pasta sauce is not good for us. just a heads up.

Similar thing happened to me while ago also. Looks like I'm a couple of weeks behind you, and I've had remarkably little problems in eating almost anything I want. But a while ago I was going to try and sneak a mid-morning snack in but only left myself about 5 minutes to do it. So I tried to eat 5 wheat thins loaded with abuut a half ounce of roast beef apiece and do it in under 5 minutes. I went back to work and within about 2 minutes I had to go back into the lounge and throw up in the sink. Not a totally unpleasant experience, but one I'd like to avoid if possible.

Pasta- Bad Rice-Bad

I eat salad or cabbage evey day and have sincce about 3 months out.  The dressing or cheese are more likely to be your culprit.  Many dressings not only have alot of fat but sugar as well.

I have started eating rice and have not had a problem. I only have a little (less then 1/2 cup) so I can fill up on protein. I have not tried pasta yet. I am about 4 1/2 months out. But my doctor gave me the ok for Red Meat and Rice. Is this common for rice to be bad? Should I just stop eating it?
