Muscle "Fears"

hey paul,

i sat out on this post because i've responded to this question a hundred times at least and didn't want to bore the guys again. i did see an interesting interview with arnold the other day about the arnold classic and they asked about steriods. he said these guys can lift a thousand pounds and the steriods might give them an extra thirty pounds but that's it. he stated the point i've made all along and i think lifters like earl will back me up on this. you have to be an extreme athlete to get a build that's big. you can achieve a nice one on your own but that's it. i bet if you worked your ass for the next year you would have less than 8 pounds of lean muscle mass. and i'm talking extreme workouts, diets and supps to make even that amount happen.

so don't worry about getting big. it won't happen. for all the reasons the others guys mentioned it's really good for you to lift. i won't repeat them, you get the message. if you want a physique again, then there's plenty of routines out there that will get you there. just don't expect a six pack and ripped pecs. it won't happen until you're a few years down the road and adapt that lifestyle. it's a three pronged approach, lifting, diet and supps to get there. very few of us want to do that much. i don't even want to do that to tell the truth and i lift. i would rather be smaller nowadays but more cut. i've achieved that but i doubt most guys would want to do even my routine to achieve my goal. a lot of the guys already blast me for being over the top about it.....lol. yeah, i get some respect for the lifting but they feel it's more an obsession. i agree, no arguement there. so that's my point, it will take a ton of work to do any damage to your health. at the point most on this board start off doing, it's nothing but good. so get out there and lift away. it's all good unless you're sticking yourself with bull ball juice and you're in the gym everyday for six hours! oh, get some before pics for yourself too. you'll be amazed at what you'll look like in just six months of lifting. promise......carbonblob

I would have to wonder about the state of health of anyone 20-25 who had not previously lifted weights. Probably something else that is causing the heart disease!
