A Bucket List
I haven't seen the movie but I understand the principle. I'd like to use it as a motivation of what I'd like to do someday.
I'd like to go horseback riding. I never did when I was a thin young man. Now I hope I can someday in the future. I was watching a show on RFDTV today and they were riding at the Paradise Ranch in Wyoming. The ranch has 200 horses and nice cabins. It's a family place that offers riding, ranch activities, camping, and fly fishing. Oh, there are no phones or TV. It's just a nice place that's really away from it all. I'd love to be able to live that lifestyle for a week.
So, what do the rest of you want to do?
I've always wanted to ride a horse as well. I want to be able to fit in the car comfortable. I want to ride a roller coaster again. I love them!
Haven't been back since I had to take the walk of shame b/c I was too fat for the seat. I swear I should open up a theme park with fat people roller coaster and have a weight limit and wide ass limit so skinny *****es can't ride!
I'd make so much money!
I think I'd call it the FAT FARM OF FUN and FOOD!
The only advice I can give you if you insist on riding a horse is to wear something that will support the boys. I let my wife and daughter***** me in to a trail ride in Colorado about 8 years ago. We were on vacation so I was wearing t shirts and gym shorts and no underwear and that's just the freakin' way it was gonna be. I didn't bring any horse riding clothes. So this damned horse is going down a pretty steep hill and I'm having to lean way back in the saddle and stand in my stirrups to keep from toppling ass over teakettle over the front of him and in doing so my boys are elevated off of the saddle surface. Then the damned beast starts running. It was like those exhibitions you used to see where Meadowlark Lemmon would dribble two basketballs at the same time. So now I'm all leaned back and standing in the stirrups and holding the reins with one hand and my sack with the other until we can get to flat ground again. I was sore for a week. My wife thought it was the funniest damned thing she'd ever seen.
Which gets me back on topic. On that same trip we took a raft ride down a river, but it was pretty tame cause our daughters were pretty young and couldn't go on any of the badass ones. My wife and I talked about getting in really good shape and going on a sure nuff white water rafting trip. Since then I've gained about 80 lbs, but this post reminded me that that's something I need to put back in the plan.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.
I must admit that I was laughing while reading about your bad experience riding a horse. As to the white water rafting, I personally like the sensation of floating. I have an open ****pit kayak that can hold me but I haven't used it in a few years since I can't get in and out of it. So, my cousin's been using it for fishing.
IronMan - Kona, Hawaii. Every time I don't fel like getting up at 5AM to train... every time I feel like I can't run / bike that last mile or swim that last lap... every time I think I can't get that last rep... every time I have o ice my knees / shins / calves / ankles... I remember where I've come from and where I was a couple years ago.
You are an inspiration, bayou boy!! Keep up the great work and you will soon realize your IronMan dream.
Time to hit the gym as I too have a dream and that be the dreaded "Triple Bypass" 120 mile cycling event July 12 here in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. It's motto is "For those who dare." Nuff said.
Have a great day!
Boner

Good luck on your race Boner.
My first official tri event is next weekend in a town just north of Dallas and my first full marathon is at the end of next month. It's gonna be a LOOONG road to Kona but the farther along I get in my training the more and more I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Right now it still feels like a pipe dream but so did losing 254 pounds over the last two years.
