Hey Guys, I am just under three weeks out and I have been on liquids since leaving the hospital.  I will be allowed to start pureed foods starting tomorrow.  I am looking for suggestions for some pureed foods.  Here is what I have on the list already: Mashed Potatoes Refried Beans creamed soups I am also looking for items that would be a good source of protein. Thanks Rob

Apparantly, I'm not normal.  I was cleared after 5 days for purees, so here's what I've had so far: Turkey Chile (everything added as in normal chile, even the spice.  Lot's of protein) Chicken Salad (FF Mayo and onions) Turkey Salad Grits (add protein powder) Cream of Wheat ( add protein powder) Also try Cambells bean and bacon soup, mix in some cooked ground turkey. Take it slow, very small portions to see how you'll react.   Good Luck Oh yeah, add some fiber into the mixes, you'll be thankful!!!

I took the meat of the day and put in a blender or magic bullet and pureed it with onions, SF relish, pickles or what ever I felt like and then added mayo. Tuna, lean ham, chicken or turkey all work. I would not go to heavy on the potatoes, if you are in ketosis all the carbs may knock you out. If you do potatoes be sure to add protein so they won't be empty calories. I always liked the refried beans with taco sauce on top. The taco sauce does not have chunks.  pan head

There are so many things you can puree, that will still taste great!  One night I had a really bad craving, and I really hadn't been eating (obviously), so in the kitchen the family was eating, of all things, KFC!  I almost killed them - but that was OK, I held up. I pulled out the little Black & Decker Handy Chopper (looks like a baby food processor), and I skinned 1 drumstick and removed some of the meat ONLY from the bone and placed it in the chopper.  I then added about 1 tsp of mashed potato and 1 tsp of gravy.  It made a total of about 1/4 cup or less of puree, but it was warm and had a really nice flavor.  That was the one time I did that as a treat.   It sounds gross, but it tasted really nice. Also, I have pureed a lot of different items.  One time, I took some of the family dinner (pork loin roast), and I pureed a small amount of the meat (very lean - so a bit dry) with a small amount of gravy for moisture.  It really looked gross - kind of gray, but the taste was actually surprisingly delicious!  Just play with it - there is so much that you can do! :) Have a great day, Mike

Egg salad and tuna salad worked for me.  Also some cooked frozen vegetables in the microwave, example spinach or mixed vegetables.  Brian

Hummus is great (especially red pepper hummus). You can put it on a ritz cracker if you chew well and let the cracker dissolve in your mouth. Joe
