How Long did you wait to have Plastics?
I waited a full year after my weight had stabilized at my goal weight of 215 pounds. During that year, I worked on my abs, chest, and core to try to get to a point where I knew my body composition wasn't going to change much. In other words, if you have PS and your body changes a bunch afterwards (e.g. lose more weight, gain muscle, etc.), your new "skin suit" won't fit so well. Boner
Someone was just asking me about this today, and for me I had no idea. I just had surgery in February so I am no where near the surgery point. Although I would LOVE to be. LOL!
I heard that its best to wait at least a year or after you have met your goal and was able to maintain it for a few months.
Keep us posted...especially me since we both in GA. lol
A friend of mine who had PS after RNY was told they needed at least 18 months since surgery and at least 6 of those months of being stable weight (nothing gained or lost) in that time.
Of course each surgeon will have different criteria depending on their income needs, err I mean safety requirements.

Give yourself about 18 months. But the best thing you can do for yourself before getting PS is do some weight training. Lifting weights will help you tone your body and tighten up your skin. Cardio is great but weight training will give you a great appearance. Lifting weights is the best things I did for myself after WLS. I just got a TT and my weight training really made things easier.
I attend 3 support meeting a month, and have done so for the past 6 months. We have surgeons and plastic surgeons as guest speakers. This question is a common one. Surgeons recommend the following: wait 15 months to 2 years after surgery OR until you've maintained your expected weight loss for a period of 3 months. If you do the surgery too soon, and you lose more weight, you probably won't be happy with the results after more weight loss.

Obviously, PS is out until you are "as low as you can go" .. Otherwise you risk having to do it all over again later on if you lose even more ..
If you listen to the surgeons, though, they seem to be willing to do it at - depending on the surgeon - when you are one year out from WLS, or one year out from your lowest post-op weight .. (some require two years out) .. IMHO I think it's best to wait until your lowest weight has been stable for at least one full year before getting it done .. that's my plan and I'm sticking to it!
