I forgot...it may be a better idea to try and get addicted to exercise first. You'll probably be able to begin both at about the same time. Get about 45-60 minutes in a day. Your new studly minister appearance will help bring some "into the fold."

Drinking in moderation at home or with a designated driver is fine for some, horrible for others. The sugar contant of booze can cause dumping on some people. The high amount of empty calories does nothing to help you weight loss. You'll get trashed one one or two drinks. A doctor on another site said that one drink to a RNY patient is like a normal person having 5 drinks. You'll get trashed quickly, but sober up quickly. That in itself isn't bad. But some people think this is a fun routine, and do it several times. The "drinker" then thinks he's OK to drive home as he feels sober. But one problem. YOUR BLOOD ALCOHOL LEVEL DOES NOT COME DOWN very fast, and if you get stopped, you'll probably get a DUI. The doctor I'm quoting said that a doctor friend of hers that did RNY surgery had 4 women in Japan with DUI's. My surgeon's office said they were recently writing a letter for an attorney of a patient who also got a DUI recently.

My surgeon's the only doc in Japan that does RNY. Kasama's patients?

Possible scenario: Small boned weak drinking lady has a drink and four hours later is still legally drunk?

Best Wishes,

Dave

Doc S. is on another forum site, and I don't know her friend's name. I have no reason to doubt her though.  If you look at most posts of the OH forums about drinking, the vast majority seem to be about women.  I scenario I mentioned was repeated drinks, getting drunk, sobering up, and repeating the process. The the blood alcohol would be too elevated. I'm unaware of any statistics on how many drinks for a man or woman of a specific weight and how that affects blood alcohol levels. I also know its been asked about several times at support groups I've attended. Another forum on this site, also cited a medical study of alchol effects on RNY patients and the physical damages that occur at a higher incidence level than non WLS people.
