Aftercare
Cool, you have a "wife drove me home from the hospital" horror story too? I get reminded every frickin' time I talk to my wife (we're seperated) about how mean I was to her on the way home. Admittedly, I was a tad testy given I just had my guts split wide open from hip to hip and was all doped up and every time she would hit a frickin' pothole, yowwwwsa! Anywho, she doesn't understand how my behavior might have been affected by the cir****tances but I was being a critical dickweed. What cha gonna do?

I would agree with alot of previous posters and say that everone is different, so a back up plan is essential. As for me, my surgery was on Friday, I was home on Sunday and my wife went to work on Monday. I was ok by myself. She had mixed my protien shakes for me and made sure I had the phone, remote, etc close at hand before she left for work. I slept on the sofa for about a week after also. After about three days at home I was pretty much self-sufficient. I milked the crap out of it though, "Babe, can you rub my back?" "Can you get me something to drink?" etc....I figured I had waited on her through two pregnancies, it was my turn!
I had my surgery (lap-RNY)on a Wednesday & came home on Friday afternoon. The few days at home I was sore getting out of bed. I felt well enough by Sunday to mow the grass. Mostly riding the mower & a little trimming. I live alone so, I was on my own after the first night at home. The doctor said do what i felt up to & I did. I showered the next day. Did that ever fell good after sponge baths...
If my experience was any indication, I'd say you'll be fine alone after a couple of days.
