Guilty of drama!

Great post, Dave. As a matter of fact, not just a great post but an amazing post. You have summarized my feelings about the whole situation in a nutshell by saying: "All I want to do is help other men get through this process.  And face it, this weight loss journey is one part of life that is very unique for men as compared to women."  That being said, we know OH won't do a damn thing about helping us and secondly, we now have this lunatic fringe of TunaTown rejects looking to "macho up." I say let's "stay the course" and put up with the short term fireworks. Boner

here here. well stated. i'm glad you jumped in with this one. i put you in the Dx catagory (read reply to tim). thanks for the level headed outlook. i agree, 9 out of 10 post from women in here are out there to bait. they just have to understand the a few ruinded it for them. to the point that even a nice question will end with baja telling them they got their answer now don't ever come back. i gotta agree with him. it's to the point when i see a female avitar my eyes roll and back goes up. even without reading the post i think they must know by now that it's not right to post here. i mean really, there's pm and they ought to know who to ask by now. certainly not some of us guys. everyone on this freaking board knows Dx, so why not just email him direct? come on. just my thoughts. thanks so much for putting in to words the course to take.......carbonblob

What frustrates me so much is the simple fact that most of us (me included) participate ONLY in the Men's board, and don't have a clue as to what's happening in the other forums until something like this explodes. Ahh, well.  Like I said, either we ride it out or take our marbles and play elsewhere.   That wasn't a euphamism.

I agree, I think men have specific support needs during the WLS process, I also believe that woman have very specific needs also.  I like the fact I can ask the guys questions, that I may feel will be misunderstood on one of the main boards.  I think that the guys just understand where I am coming from and we share common experiences.  

I do frequent the NY board and have been invited to check out the BMI over 50 forum.  I have met so really great women, I really believe that the issues we are seeing here is just a very minority of the women that belong to OH.  As far as the hitting on the guys, I have not been around long enough to see much of this.  As a nurse I used to work with many medical students and residents and a very wise woman made this observation.  "They have been geeks and book worms most of their life since puberty, now they have MD after their name and have become a prime catch."  I think that the effects of the weight loss following surgery have the same effect on people, which might account for the trolling for the guys.  Please don't judge the majority of women by the actions of the few.  I have developed relationships with several women who are part of the same program where I see my surgeon.  These women have been very supportive and wonderful to me.  I see this as another option for support, especially when I have questions about how my MD handles specific issues.

so true. without a doubt jim i couldn't have done this without the support of so many women. i have a lot of female friends on this board as well and respect their opinions and advice. i venture to say most of the guys here feel that way. even baja! he loves women, just not the ones that feel they have to bash our party. my god, just give us some space. jeez. i'll tell you, the unexpected prize to this post has been some private pm's to me from the women *****ally feel bad and downright apologize for the action of others who come here. how cool is that? so yeah, if only there were more women like that then i bet this whole thing of having a sherriff to watch the gate wouldn't be needed. thanks for the reply. you're right. there's good ones and bad ones.

CB - I think that I am the guilty one, with regard to the recent **** storm.  I got carried away and was uncharacteristically obscene (even for me) to someone who turned out to be an innocent bystander.  I've apologized to her for my admittedly "over the top" obscenities - and proving that she is indeed a big person she accepted, apologized for her minor infractions, and now is attempting to quell the hostilities:    http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/rantsandraves/a,messageboard/action,replies/board_id,8418/cat_id,7617/topic_id,3607773/ (sorry for the poor "hot link" job).   I've also agreed to bury the hatchet with another of my recent  combatants. I do know that I'm not going to contribute to this conflict anymore...... I'll hold off till the next one comes around 

I realize the embers are still glowing over TunaWar2008 but I wanted to give some sincere props to "the charmed one." First of all, she has a "pair" if you know what I mean and secondly, she ain't no dummy and that's for sure. I wish her luck in her personal WLS journey and I hope she can use her force ("Luke, I'm your father") for goodness and not ....... Boner

actually, some good might have come out of this whole **** storm. from what i gathered on the RR forum it looks to me like we got 99% support from the women and they want to leave us alone to scratch our balls in peace. these are obviously the happily married ones. i just can't get over that one agitator though. wow. i don't think the guys being held in gitmo are that unhappy. can you imagine life around her?

as i was saying, most came to our defense. they didn't understand why we bash so hard but now realise it's due to others who used to troll on our board so we're naturally touchy. in the end it's Dx who said it best. it's all about the $$. in actuality OH loves your ass. you help create so much traffic with your posts that you're an entire industry by yourself. cut you loose? lmao. they act like they want to ban you but you are a line item in their assets column. you ought to ask for pay for what you do. come on. we're not a republic or democracy, we're a capitalist society and brother, you ring up the bucks in here with all the posts you generate keeping the gate. so trust me, you're going nowhere and they know it. banned, yeah, that's a laugh! i'm surprised they haven't made a forum just for you.

anyway, back to the point. maybe they might finally concede and put a sticky up or something to keep women from posting here but i doubt it. Dx had a good read over there. did you see it? carbonblob
