Non-WLS Farts
A job interview Thursday morning that went VERY WELL
followed by a five hour road trip to Harrah's, Laughlin Nevada
where we are up up about $300 so far via roulette, ****s... er' slots
, & keno
with 4 hours on a pontoon boat on Lake Mojave
And the best part is that we still have all night tonight (friday) through Sunday morning!
I guess that working 66 hour weeks since Jan. 1st is beginning to pay off.

And the fun continued unabated......
I am beginning to like Laughlin more than Vegas! The river view is nicer, the rates are much more reasonable, the hotel workers are really FRIENDLY and actually seem to enjoy their jobs, entertainment is cheaper (although you won't see Cher or Celine Dion, Boz Skags performed at Harrah's last night), room rates are MUCH cheaper, and the gaming odds are way better.
The crowd is a little older than Vegas... for some reason that appeals to me a little more than it used to
I did get to see a little "girls gone wild" action at Lake Mojave, however
Good God, they sure make bikinis small these days
Vegas gets just as hot as the Laughlin / Bullhead City area (106 this afternoon, but it's a dry heat).... but we had the river and nearby Lake Mojave to cool off in. Getting from casino to casino was a lot of fun utilizing their water taxi system - 4 bucks for a ride.
I'm a real ******g desert rat... and we hit up Oatman (with "wild" burros roaming the old mining town's streets, begging for carrots). We drove a portion of the "mother road"; Route 69..... 'er 66
Taking in old gas stations, mines, ruins, and diners along the way. We saw an old spring with stone steps leading up to it in the middle of the hottest desert that I have ever been in.... water seeping from the naked rock face into a concrete trough made way back when. I can only imagine the relief that Okies escaping the dust bowl must have felt climbing those same stairs.... maybe the difference between life and death. From the air conditioned comfort of my 4WD, I gave a verbal salute to those tough and resilient people who traveled through and mined this beautiful hell-hole.
We veered off North up to another old mining town - Chloride... where we viewed petroglyphs and had a cold one with some bikers.
Back to the Hotel Saturday afternoon for a quick shower and change of clothing, we hit the Roulette table again at the Riverside via water taxi - the same one that we had "butt punched" the previous evening. We were doing pretty well.... but I get a little bored gambling after a while. I start to feel like some wired-up laboratory rhesus monkey - continually pushing a button in hopes of being administered some crack cocaine... or some such nonsense. Tiring of the table (and getting admittedly loaded) I made a incredibly large (for me) and stupid bet. For my foolishness I was paid obscenely.... and we cashed in for the night.
All in all, we took a grand and left with $980.... after gambling heavily, drinking, eating, taxis, etc. Of course our "Bush Stimulus Package" (doesn't that sounds like a good euphanism for penis?) paid for our rooms and gas
We were able to take side roads and more of 66 back to our house. Missing the I 40 & I 15 return clusterfuck on the way home!
