These shakes are getting old.

Never could stand protein shakes. They were all either too sweet or tasted like crap so I lived on Tomato Soup and SF popcicles. After the first couple of weeks I added soft scambled eggs and blended tuna fish with mayo. It only for a short period of time so the amunt of protein is not so critical.  Good Luck, Tim

Well the New Whey and Profect protein shots along with GNC liquid proteins are what I took during the last 18 months and I've maintained over 90% of my muscle mass pre - WLS and all blood tests are good so for me they worked perfectly.  I wouldn't ever have been able to force  myself to mix up powdered concoctions so in the end the prepackaged liquid protein shots were perfect. I would be curious to know how much of your muscle mass you lost during the liquid stage. I wouldn't expect you would have any problem once you're on the full foods but is it possible you lost more muscle than needed during the liquid stage, then gained it back later?

I hear so many stories of people say the Collagen shots (New Whey and Profect) worked for them but you also see people say not getting the protein worked for them, as some doctors say to stay away from the protein drinks and just let your body get by without for a few weeks. I would love to know how different their outcomes are, if any. It may just be that a few weeks without protein is no big deal and we're all wasting our money on protein. From everything I've read I just can't see living on ProFect and New Whey being that effective, but maybe it's just as good as nothing, and that's good enough?

First, I suggest that you go to the Diet and Nutrition Forum.  Without getting on their message board, you can get a wealth of info on WLS and various food products.  If you choose a protein type in the right hand column, you'll be linked to all of that type of product (such as liquid protein drinks).  From there, if you click on the manufacturer's name, you will be given a list of their products and you can read reviews of them from ObesityHelp.com members.  Most of the reviews are from women but you can still gain a lot of insight there.  Still, remember that our tastes vary. ...Secondly, you can flavor your shakes:  I use DaVinciGourmet sugar free and fat free syrups (they're pure liquid) that I get from www.netrition.com .  Considering the date and the fact that they don't deliver over weekends, you may be able to place an order today for regular shipping fees and still get it on Fri.  Or, it may not come until Tues.  A cheaper and quicker way to add flavor is to use a sugar free powder such as Crystal Lite or Kool Aid.  Another way would be to use flat flavored diet soda since you don't want any carbonation woes.
