When did riding a bicycle become so complicated??
I bought a Raleigh a year ago and love it. I am also not into the Mega-bucks bikes like the Treks, but I still have a good time. The first few weeks were killers, but it just gets better. It helped take the weight off all summer long, then winter set in and I stopped riding and swimming, and the weight loss stopped. But now it's warm again, the pools open, and the bike is rolling.
If we all rode like Boner, we would all be as skinny as rails by the end of summer. (I vote for Boner changing his avitar back, all in favor say amen Bro!)
Anyway, enjoy...........

Bama,
Where do you live? I want to come out there and see how you walk after you get off that bicycle seat and a nice long ride. I don't remember when we were young that the bicycle seats hurt the way they do now. probably because we had less butt to stick on the seat.
Would it be cheating if you put an engine on that bike like we used to do when we were kids?
Have fun bikeing!!!!

Hey, I just got a bike, too

I was looking for something simple and strong, and as comfortable as possible.
After asking around to friends that ride, most all of them suggested a "townie".
Big wide comfortable seat, upright comfortable riding position, and a recumbent peddle position with is more in front of you than under you.
3 speed hub gear.
I have about 20 miles on it already and love it. Might work well for you, too.
Good luck.
