25 cents for a premium coffee?? It's an outrage!!

Yeh, when all is said and done, that is about what I pay for my coffee.  "How's that" you ask?  Well first you're talking to a cheapskate...Big time.  I go to McDonald's about 1/2 the time for my coffee.  I ask for a small cup.  They give me the senior discount (without me asking...I'm only 52).  The price...68 cents!!  If I went to a 7-11 it would be a lot more and they would have fake cream.  I use McDonald's half and half...4-5 of them.  I forgot but I think they have Splenda available, too.  Put in a few of their Splenda (or my own...I keep 3 packets in my wallet).  I use their sugar and maybe some Equal.  I haven't asked for a refill yet.  I will just drink about 1/2 the cup (it's a big cup).  Take it home and use it the next day.  I can handle day old coffee if it has been refrigerated.  Those half and halfs are not cheap.  A friend who owns a coffee shop says he is paying 4-5 cents each for those things!!  When all is said and done, for what I pay... It costs about 25 cents...Go figure.  Brian

Hey, I turn 52 this summer and they never offer me a senior discount!!!??!! Those Mc-Bast*rds! I may have to put some white-out in my hair….And borrow some glasses! Per Gallon, gas is still cheaper than StarBucks by a long shot! Best Wishes- Dx

Brian, I'm 50 and have mostly all gray hair, but I have never been offered the senior discount either. I usually stop at Starbucks in the morning before work.  My usual order is a grande decaf and they charge $1.96 around here for that.  And, with a Starbucks card, you can get a free refill.   I take my coffee black with no splenda, so I don't even get any better value.  Comparativily, your value seems much better.

I spend less than that. I never go out for coffee, make mine at home. I've splurged and purchased Gevalia coffee in the past, but haven't in a couple of years. I've never understood the "Starbucks craze" where folks drive somewhere and spend several dollars on a coffee.  With the price of gas today, I doubt some of these fancier coffee shops will have the same amount of business they've enjoyed over the past years. Besides, you can get premium coffees at your local market today too, and make it home, saving the gas that is now $4 or more a gallon. I got gasoline yesterday, and it was $4 a gallon in southern CA. I make my coffee at home most of the time. I would like to go to McD's but, the nearest one is a little over 20 miles from where I live. No matter how I look at it, unless I am already in town, even with the senior discount that I don't get, that is expensive coffee.

Work is for those who don't know how to fish.

I got ya beat, mine costs me nothng. I only drink coffee at work and not every day. When I do we have several pots going in different offices and a large pot on our counter for customers so mine is FREE. I usually only fill my cup half way and then the rest of the way with cold water out of the fountain. Before surgery I would drink liquids with caffine and never feel it, I do get a little boost from it. So when Ineed a little pick me up I have a cup, well half a cup reallyl. pan head

Nothing wrong in being a frugal meister!  Blew my reputation for being a tight ass when I broke down and self paid for my WLS!.  As to coffee always drank at home and post WLS can't stand more than 1/2 cup anyway so getting where I skip it and go with water or juice.  Probably qualify for the short list of people in America who have never had Starbucks.  Think I bought a bottle of water at a Starbucks kiosk at the Vegas airport once.  I did get a senior discount at a Denny's on the Strip and I'm only 46!  Guess they felt sorry for a fat guy.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

I think that after I help myself to all of Mickey D's creamers, ketchup, salt, pepper, straws, napkins, paper towels, and  toilet  paper I come out ahead  some $$ every time that I order coffee. My brother is even worse, he stops by  the car dealerships on the way in to the office every morning and grabs free coffee and doughnuts. Every time that I walk into Starbucks that strong espresso aroma hits me, my sphincter starts a twitchin', and I gotta make a bee line to the can before I crap in my trou.

I actually prefer fat free Coffeemate over half and half.  Half and Half always has a sweetish taste to me. Okay, let's start this out right. Hello, my name is Dave, and I'm a coffee addict. We have a Keurig coffee maker that makes individual cups of coffee - similar to Tassimo and some of the other ones out there.  I've never had a cup of coffee as good as having a cup of Tully's Sumatra through one of those with a little Coffeemate and Splenda in it. I do visit Starbucks, but I'm not a brand *****  I've gotten coffee from Starbucks, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Peet's, various and sundry convienience stores, Kelly's Fudge, and most recently, inside of a movie theater. (We saw Ironman yesterday) I can tell you - I like extra bold / dark coffee, and that's a rare beast to find without making it at home.  Starbucks Pikes Place blend isn't bad, and Peet's generally has some good stuff.  But everything else is too weak for my tastes.  I don't turn my nose up at it, I just cant' savor it the way I do the extra bold / dark roasts.  I'm afraid I am, however, too much of a coffee snob to save coffee in the fridge and microwave it later.  You've heard people talk about having that first bite of an apple (or something simular) - for me it's that first sip of piping hot coffee in the morning. Anyhow - coffee is just one of those things that is 'to each his own'.  I grew up in Seattle, so coffee wasn't just to wake you up in the morning - it was kind of it's own sub-culture.  Not that I take it that far, I just know what I like. And .. after losing 380lbs roughly, I can honestly say that I really don't think it's holding me down.
