Flying a flag upside-down is flying it "in protest" and is a time-honored tradition. It shows your distaste with an action our government is pursuing, etc. There is n reason to be offended, it's not a commentary aimed at you.



Furthermore, it is not unpatriotic. Dissent is the most patriotic and American thing there is. Agreeing with everything and covering your house and car with flags isn't patriotic, it's nationalistic. Big difference, at least in my mind.


If you want to be a total hard-on about flag etiquette, here's a few sample rules. It can get quite dizzying if you really delve into it:

 Yep, Syn ..  I think they give out a pamphlet with those rules with many U.S. flag purchases these days (and of course every Boy Scout is given one too, I bet) ..     Dang, I'm amazed we don't have a "Federal Flag Police" or some such by now ..
