Well in looking over this letter that they sent to the house.. I think that the results of the Medical eval they want will be my desiding factor. I just had a physcal and that came back good so I know that part is okay.. When I filled out the application I mentioned my bad knees ankles and little back problem.. (all could be fixxed with weight loss. But, they want a release from my ortho. So Might as well make an appointment and see what he says. There also asking for a cardiac stress test (Ive never had one) and a few other things to go along with it. So medical I think will be the desiding factor... I'll keep you posted. If anything atleast I can have that reported to my doctor.

I had the cardiac stress test last Tuesday - no biggie, they put you on the treadmill and work you out (in increasing increments every three minutes) while you are wired up to a printer.  They take your blood pressure every three minutes as well.

They set a target heart beat rate, and see how long you can hold out before hitting it.

In my case, the HBS target rate was 147... and it took 12 miuntes with 4 levels of increasing incline and speed to hit it.

So its no big deal??? Thats nice to know. I'm cleared really except for that minor detail.. If I have never had heart disease why would the want it... Just because of my weight????

Remember, surgery is a last resort.  If you have any reasonable chance of losing your weight by not doing surgery, then go for it.  Good luck!

Thank you for you comments and op... Its just so crazy that NOW!!! I have been given this choice. Some might say its a sighn peace of devine intervention. Im just amazed that I have such a choice to make. But, nither is a shoe in. I still need to get insr approval for surgery, and I still need to get my DOCTORS.. to say that I am healthy enough to go through such physical challenge. (I dont have any doubt but, they want the doctors release) There is also a matter of who I am.. Do I really want this moment in my life captured and put on display for everyone to see. I have always kept my struggles rather private. Theres also the matter of my job.... Will they permit me the time to take off to do the show.. I know they would give me enough time to do surgerybut the show is a longer commitment. As much as I HATE my job I need it. if only for the medical insr. There's a LOT to consider here. I have never been one to jump right into anything so it may take a few weeks for me to decide. They have given me a deadline in September so I'm going to use it to my advantage. I will fill you all in.

I have some perspective to add.  My surgery done about 10 days ago is going to be on the discovery channel and airing sometime in January (not the greatest loser but a documentary).  I too had to make the decision about how much of this I wanted public and just what I would share with the outside world.   It was my decision to just let them follow the whole process.  If my struggle can benefit any others, then I thought that I should show it warts and all to the public.  I know many people who talk about the greatest loser and people actually empathize with each candidate as they go through this competition.  You will be a role model and if nothing else, all your struggles getting fit can help others with their personal struggle.  I find that there is no higher purpose than this, especially if you have to go through it anyway.

Now I think that idea is MUCH BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WOULD DO THAT WITH OUT ANY THOUGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can change the thinking about this surgery.. I honestly would let someone fallow 24/7 with a camera so see the whole proccess if I knew it would help others going through it and could help educate people. People should know the true reasons behind the surgery choice and why for some of us go that direction.
