Predators and Pray

Nope, that is not a typo I know the difference between pray and prey.

I got an email...you probably did too. I'll let you read mine below and then make my point...which I'm still formulating; here's the body:

Hello my dear new friend.
How are you today, I hope all is well with you .I am sorry to worry you with my Proposal for a relationship with you, but I know that you will grant my request in good faith and understanding, My name is Peace, I just went Through your profile at (
www.obesityhelp.com) I have no options than letting you Know that I am interested in having a relationship with you, I will also like to Know you the more, you can send an email to my email address ([email protected]) so that I can send you more details about my self Including my picture. I believe we can move from here. But bear in mind that Love has no colors barrier, no educational back ground barrier, no socio-economic Barrier, religious, language, nationality or distance barrier, the only important Thing there is love. I am waiting for your mail to my email address above. Yours Sincerely
Peace ([email protected])

I read this and I felt so....angry that anyone would be so predatory as to assume that because we are or were Morbidly Obese, that they could target OH and just cast a wide net and see how many men actually fell for it....argh!   I'm VERY annoyed right now.  The tone and language of the email is so sweet that it hurts me to see, such wonderful concepts, Peace, Baby, Love as the email address for this predatory BYOTCH!

And, that is where the prayer comes in....as usual, at the point of exhaustion, after I've allowed the mind to have its skeeming little games, about how I'm going to get HER (who is probably actually a HE) and turn her over to the authorities....but that is also when in addition to prayer, Gratitude comes in. Gratitude that OH obviously self-polices and has deactivated that person's account.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

All I have to do is remain absolutely grateful for EVERYTHING that shows up and teaches me something... As A Course In Miracles reminds me...I can choose peace, rather than this.

ahhh. I feel better now ;-)

Oh, I just use these "phishing" messages to pester my wife, saying other ladies are interested in a relationship with me. Most often, by the time I get the message, the user has already been deactivated by OH for the spam.

Get those messages a couple times a week. There profiles are usually yanked by the end of the day. Like one of the othere replies, probably just some african in a cyber cafe trying to steal identities. I delete them as soon as I see them.

You guys are all wrong. This letter is probably from a very nice girl just wanting new friends.

I would email her but first I have to help a barrister in Nigeria empty a bank account for helping him  he will send me 5 million dollars.
