Light-headed?
I frequently get light-headed since my surgery, which was last Monday, July 28. Counting the two weeks before the operation, I've been on strictly limited calories for nearly 3 weeks. I'm doing really well, except that since Wednesday I've been light-headed off and on. This isn't "I'm falling down dizzy" just feeling a little woozy. Sort of like drinking two beers on an empty stomache.
Anyone else experience this? Any ideas where it's coming from or what I can do about it? I plan to tlak to the doc's office on Monday, by the way.

That early on, it could very well be the combination
of low calorie intake and mild dehydration.
Further out, or if weight loss is very rapid,
It is more likely, Postural-Hypotension
Good that you have the Doc on Monday.
Hope you feel better soon.

Two questions
1. Are you drinking enough fluids? If you have not had enough fluid, especially with the hot weather you can loose a lot of fluid without really realizing it.
2. Are you taking high blood pressure medications? I had problems after surgery with my blood pressure droping and feeling this way. I talked to my primary physician and ended up stopping my medication one or two weeks after surgery.
If you really feel that you are drinking enough, call your doc. DO NOT STOP ANY MEDICATIONS WITH OUT TALKING TO YOUR DOCTOR!!!! If you have a blood pressure cuff at home, check your BP when you are feeling good and when you are woozy. The more information you can provide your doc the better he will be able to help you.
3rd idea, are you taking narcotic pain medicaiton? I was on lortab/hyrdocodone after surgery and that can also make you feel woozy. If you think you can get by on plain tylenol for pain control, try it. Just remember most of the presciption pain medications also contain tylenol, so don't mix the two or you can easily have a tylenol overdose.
good luck

Are you taking any painkillers? If so, they might be the culprit. After my lap-band surgery, I ditched the pain pills after a few days since they made me dizzy for extra-strength Tylenol. Hang in there, things will improve rapidly over the next week or so.

Thanks for the fast response. I do take hypertension medicine, and I take it regularly. One of them is HCTZ, which is a diuretic probably need to be super-careful about getting enough water, especially since I found on another board that blood volume reduction is another part of weight loss. I take two meds for hypertension, I'm thinking the HCTZ will be the first to go. For what it's worth, the only other medication I take is for GERD and allergies.
I have a blood pressure tester, and I just tried taking my BP sitting down and standing up. Sitting it was 132/82 (pretty normal for me), and when I stood up it jumped to 140/94. I think that's what is supposed to happen.
I haven't taken any narcotic pain reliever since Tuesday, so I think I'm good there.
I'm guessing that dehydration is the best hypothesis, so off to the water glass. I'll call the doc on Monday no matter what.
Thanks again, and if there are any other theories, I'm all ears.
