To those who are losing a lot of weight in the first six months(or did lose a lot of weight in the first six months) how much were you eating? What were you eating? See anything wrong with this diet: all foods run through a processor or blender

shake 150 cal
tuna w/low fat mayo 120 cal
shake w/berries 180 cal
xtra lean ham 90 cal
1/2 a protein bar 180 cal

stew

lean(er) steak meat 150 cal
potatoes 1 oz
carrots 1/2 oz
peas 1/2 oz

Light and fit yogurt 40 cal

Total 910 + potatoes, carrots, peas (certainly less than 1200) . With a sedentary lifestyle I should need 3000 to 3200 (depends on the calculator). That's a caloric deficit of 1800 to 2000 calories a day not counting exercize.

I don't know whats the norm. but had my rny April 1st I get 70g - 90g protein in a day very, very, little veggies and I'm 2lbs below goal weight. My cal. intake a day according to my NUT calculations from my daily journal is 400-600 cal per day. I don'****ch cal. or carbs. I just get the protein in and exercise. I started 266, goal weight 170, now 168 and still loosing. Hope this helps. C'ya Bob

(P.S. this is following my WLS teams guidelines everybody's differ).

Bob, can you give me a sample of what you log looks like? It may very well be that I am eating too much. Nobody has ever said that except on this board. Heck even if I just drank my protein shakes I'd be at 360 for 69 grams of protein.

I guess that's what it is. Sure wish somebody would have told me.

Excellent question and excellent advice you've received. To me, losing weight then maintaining is all about Awareness and Accountability. Awareness as to what I'm eating (calories in) and how much I'm exercising (calories out). Accountability as to my personal decisions as to to what and how much I eat (ie. eat crap with no exercise = fat and unhealthy).

I tracked my calories using fitday.com every day for the first year. Fitday also allowed me to stay aware of my daily grams of protein, fat and carbs and my nutrients (% FDA vitamins/minerals).

Fitday kept me aware of the nutritional value of each food I was eating so I knew that if I ate a cheeseburger with fries, it was lots of empty calories with very little nutritional value. It also meant, an extra hour working out in the gym so if I chose to eat it, I would be accountable for "working it off."

Possible data overkill for most I realize but worked for me. Bottom line: be aware of what your eating by reading labels and keeping some sort of daily log for a while then be accountable for your decisions as to what you're eating.

Best of luck.

The only thing i see a little out of whack for me. (Please check with your doctor or nutritionist) is the protein bar. How much protein for thast amount of calories? What are you making your shakes with? My shakes were higher in calories but had 50 g of proteins even though we only absorb 30. My shakes were 220 calories.

I think your protein is good. Are you not losing or someting? Are you exercising? Am I missing a question?

15 grams of protein , snickel. I've only had one bar, 1/2 at a time (each bar has 30).

As to excercize. Without going into detail, exercize is limited by other health cir****tances.

I haven't been able to ride my motorcycle much less do a jumping jack. Maybe in time. I just want to concentrate on the diet right now if that's O.K..

Sorry. Shakes are EAS with water and ice . 120 cal per scoop. 23 grams . I usually mix with jus****er. Sometimes I add a cup of berries. Sometimes I add another 1/2 scoop of protein.

I would drop the bar, add another shake. I don't think you're getting enough protein in there

Hello dude...

couple things I notice...I agree...find a replacement for the protein bar..

might wanna see how you do chewiing, instead of blender...

BIG ONE HERE...dont; beleive that calorie calculator..I have not eatedn anwhere close to 3000 a day in over 3 years...so according to that...I should have evaporated to air by now...that ain;t happened...

replace as much of the carbs and fat with protein...as much as you can stand without blowing your brains out...

it really looks like you are making smart choices...up your protein....even if it ups your calories...

Now...you are gonna have to start moving...

don't wanna be a hard ass..but it just has to happen...if you knees are bad...do arm exercises...fromt he chair if you have to....if you can't breath...they have portiable oxygen...

there is a chick on public access..."Sit and Be Fit" looks stupid as hell...but she does great stuff from the safety of a chair...

now give us some other numbers....what did you start with..what are you at...?

there is a lot of activity out there....middle of summer..Middle of Houston...go to sams...and put the death grip on a buggy..and see how far you get...

now you are a motorcycle...so you ain't bed bound...unless you are in a body cast////them we cut you slack...or got tubes hanging out of you...then we give you a break....:)
