High protein diet means MORE WATER
Ever wonder why we're supposed to drink more water while on a protein-first diet? Ever wonder why sometimes your **** is very strong smelling? Here's why.....
For every gram of protein there is 16% nitrogen. In the presence of an overly-high nitrogen balance, the harder the liver has to work. The liver is responsible for breaking down nitrogen into urea for excretion (******g).
In the process of excretion (******g), large amounts of water are used to dilute the urea (piss) as it leaves the body. For every 100 calories (25 grams) of protein metabolized, the body uses/loses 350 grams of water potentially causing dehydration.
Carbohydrates and fat use only 50 grams of water (for ever 100 calories) when metabolized.
In the absence of sufficien****er, a high level of circulating "broken down" body proteins and resulting amino acids result in a high nitrogen balance, as well as the liver producing keto acids which are potentially toxic to brain function.
Normally, diluted urine doesn't have much odor. If you're dehydrated and your urine becomes highly concentrated, it can have a strong ammonia smell.
The solution is simple, consume plenty of water when on a high protein diet.

Depends on the quality of the tequilla I suppose. Rot gut maybe not so good for your brain. Sammy Hagar Cabo Wabo tequilla on the other hand
Big Boner is doing great. Eating perfectly and walked a couple miles on Saturday which is ahead of my pace post-WLS. He's going to be kickin' my ass on the bike before I know it. I'm going back to Iowa over labor day to get his bike up to snuff. By the way, his WLS Dr. Supan (now a Dukie) did a great job on him it appears. Duke is getting an outstanding WL surgeon.
