Where would you be today without WLS?
Pretty easy for me.....DEAD. My doc gave me 2-3 years to live given my co-morbidies at 500 pounds. Just had my 3 year WLS anniversary on July 24 so I guess I'm livin' on borrowed time.
Oh' ya, at the very best, I would have been alive minus a leg or two since my diabetes were running unchecked.
How's bout' you?

Well I started this at 441 pounds and gaining, I'm sure i'd be on the other side of 450, rapidly approaching 500 pounds. I didn't have any co-morbiditys, but they were concerned with my blood sugar and started warning me about pre-diabetes.
I guess I got lucky and started taking care of this before it all went down hill.

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
I started at 345 so I wouldn't have been DEAD hopefully but I would have been very depressed (almost suicidally so I'd say) and just overall really really miserable. I'd be approaching the 400lb mark by this time and that is really scary. So I'm very happy that I chose to reroute my insides hahaha. I'm a type 1 diabetic (since age 13) so that would've just gotten worse. I was taking over 150 units of fast acting insulin per day PLUS about 50 units of a long-acting insulin so I was headed downhill fast. Now I only take about 50 units on average of just the fast-acting. My health was really deteriorating. I couldn't do anything because I was so self-conscious and worried about what people would say about me and I wasn't any fun to be around at all. But WLS has changed all that. Thank GOD for weight loss surgeons!!!!
