Sunday Weekly Weigh-in!
The Sunday Weekly Weigh-In
August 10th!
[Congratulations to All for your accomplishments this past week!
And Welcome to All who have recently Joined.
I'm keeping A "Weekly Weigh-in" here
as well as on the New-Men’s-Board
Because many of the Guys,
Both here and there (newly arriving from OH)
Have used it for over a year
to keep track of their changes, and see how they and others
are doing over a sustained period of time.
...just in your first weeks home?
Hang in there,
It DOES GET EASIER!
.... just hitting your first stall?
It happenes to many....
Eventuall you will be able to
Scan back over the last months of this weekly post,
And get a fairly clear picture of the fact
that there isn’t a "Typical" progress,
Just persistent, overwhelming - PROGRESS!
Yes, using the scales can make some crazy,
(Slower loss is Still Loss!)
-But-
Keeping track and forcing myself to "Watch It!"
Has been the "What works for Me," for maintaining my loss.
I’ll eat, but know that I need to exercise a little bit more
If the numbers climb just a little.
That way,
I only make "Little" adjustments to my weekly routine.
If the "Scales Make You Discouraged?"
Then STAY OFF of Them!
But for those who Are weighing in-
Drum roll--------------------------------------
Hop your Azz up on the Scales!
and a Big Smile-
How much have you lost?
Since Surgery?
Or in Pre-Op Diet?
And has the Scale moved this week for you?
If so, How Much?
My Starting Weight? – 385 +
All Time Low – 179
Me?- (saturday night weight...)
188. (down a pound from the last couple of weeks.
I'm on the road still, moving my son to Oregon.
I'm probably a little short on protein....
It's a Friday morning weight,
but as close as I'll get this week...)
So, What about YOU?

Capricious; Impulsive, Semi-Predictable
I'm 6 weeks and 4 days out. I made a few adjustments to my eating plan last Sunday. I lowered my caloric intake from a "not so well measured" 1000 to a more scrupulously measured 700 after reading about some members successes and what they were eating this far out. I also upped the movement some. I lost 8 pounds in 4 days.
I've had to increase water intake the last few days and my weight has stayed within 2 pounds either way. Today it shows 9 but I only went to sleep 3 hours ago and was really drinking a bunch of fluid last night before bed. (Hence why I'm up ;)).
Drastic change from my week 3-5 results (averaged 2-3 pounds a week).
I feel pretty good about it. I don't expect as much this week but if I get 5 more gone I can drop "morbidly" from my name and simply be "obese". Cool. And if not, I'll get it the next week.
So , I started from a high weight of 388, lost 6 before the pre-op 2 week diet, lost 22 on the pre-op 1000 calorie diet, and now have lost 32 in 46 days post-op (14 in the first two weeks, 9 in the next 3, then 8 in week six, 1 the last 4 days) . Not quite as much as I'd hoped for , but better than a sharp stick in the eye . I'll dang sure take it. (Edit: and it just hit me that if you add in the two week pre-op I'm down 54 in 60 days. Now that's cooking. ;))
Now I'll up the movement another notch and see what I get.
Thank y'all for posting your WL data and most importantly, how you got there. It really gave me some ideas about how I could improve my situation.

I'm pissed this week (and have been) because I think a medicine I was taking (Lyrica for nerve pain) was making me either gain weight or retain what I had or something so I stopped taking it. Now it seems as though the scale is wanting to negotiate with me a little better. But hopefully I'll be losing more soon. Down about 103 since surgery.

Yes and yes. Lyrica can cause both water retention / edema and it can also cause true weight gain on its own, though the mechanism isn't well-understood.
Cymbalta is a SNRI anridepressant also used to treat neuropathic pain, and it might have less of a tendency to cause weight gain than Lyrica, though I don't think it's completely free of this side-effect; it seems to be idiosyncratic: some people gain, others lose, and with others, it has no effect on weight.

Last week to this week -2.4 for just under 105 since March 10 consult.
Not able to get normal excercise and eat right on "institutional" food at hospital. FYI the Mrs. had lap RNY this past Monday in Tyler and instead of being in hospital just two nights as planned had to stay four because of minor complication. Brought her home Friday and she is doing fine. Catching up around the house after being gone a week is a royal pain in my formally fat ass! Know what I mean Vern?
