I realize this is short notice but tomorrow I go to see my surgeon to get my surgery date. I would like to ask you what questions you asked your surgeon and nut prior to their surgery. Also looking back after surgery are there are any questions you wished you had asked prior to going into surgery. Thanks.

BTW - I am having open RNY

I didn't really ask my surgeon anything. I was kinda numb and my surgeon was very businesslike and fast. Couldn't slow him down. I wished I would have asked things like if I am going to RNY am I going to be Proximal or distal. How long is the common channel. WHat vitamins, what supplements does he recomend. WHat kind of aftercare support will there be available?  Things like that

My first question would be could I get laproscopy rueny bypass?
That is what I am scheduled for on 11-06 and my bmi is over 60 .
The recovery time is much less with the laproscopy type surgery because it is not as invasive there are 6 or 7 small scars instead of one large one.
You get out of the hospital sooner and get back to work sooner and I don't know about you but that is important to my finacial standing.
Ask what kind of pre surgery vitamin and diet regiment he would like you to follow and what pre surgery diet he recommends.
Ask how soon you can get it done the waiting is a warm place near the water.
get as much exercise and walking before surgery as you can tolerate to build yourself up.
Good luck
