Seht inspired this post from our triathlon discussion.

What are you working on? I'm sure we've all got those goals in sight that, a few years ago seemed completely out of the question. What are your goals?

Here are mine for the next year.

1. Super Sprint Triathlon in October
2. Full Triathlon in the Spring
3. Climb Mt. Shasta summer '09
4. Hit my goal weight!

My goals are much different due to where I am.
1. Stick to my 2 week preop diet
2. Enjoy my vacation even though I am on preop surgery diet
3.  Have RNY surgery 8/25/08
4. Recover from surgery while setting up good eating habits
5. Get back to the gym. Oddly I am already missing it and I have not stopped yet. Very odd.

Awesome goals, Marc. Have you thought of setting time-markers for your goals? I know that always helps me. I'm a bit of a goal freak; always working on something. I try to set goals for a week, few weeks, and long term.

What I would like to accomplish daily
Food:
1.  keep calorie count around 800-1000 with it being mostly protein.

2. Eliminate snacking from my life.  It is still one of the biggest contributors to making goal 1 difficult.

3.  Get my liquids in.  I really need to work harder on this.

Fitness Goals:

1.  Consistantly be able to run 5k distance (done once so far)
      A:  Without stopping
      B:  increase speed
2.  Complete a sprint triathlon (Scheduled for Sept 14th)
3.  Complete a 10K run without stopping
4.  Complete a bike ride in excess of 50 miles
5.  Complete a 1/2 marathon
6.  Complete an Olympic distance Triathlon
7.  Complete a 1/2 ironman
8.  Complete a full marathon
9.  Complete a full ironman

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!

Goals?  Who needs goals?   :)

Heh heh, anyone that knows me, knows that I LIVE by my goals.  It's what's kept me going throughout my journey...

After I completed my original goal list that had something like 90 goals on it I had to come up with a new, more difficult list in which the apex would be the Ironman Championship in Hawaii.

I get what you mean Jake. I do need to set longer term goals and writing them here does seem to help.

I guess I just feel overwhelmed right now so I am not looking at actual goals past a month after surgery. That is besides the ovious loose lots of weight. 100 to 140. But I can add one goal.

    1. Outline more goals with dates while recovering from surgery.

I had not thought of actually setting dates. It sounds like a good idea for me.

Just don't get disappointed if a goal doesn't happen on the date you chose.
Some will happen sooner, and some may happen later.
    It's all about making progress.

Good luck with all of your goals.

When it came down to the day of surgery I had one goal:

Keep on top of what I can manage today. Forget about today when tomorrow comes.

I forgave myself for not getting in my water / protein. I just kept looking at each day individually. Finally after a week or soI set my first goal of when to get all my protein AND water in a single day. Those are really the only goals that matter in the beginning. As you progress through the experience you'll be motivated and inspired to test out your new form.

WLS is not for sissies! Try not to get overwhelmed, and keep your head above your shoulders.

Here are my goals for the next 2 years:

    - Reach a weight I can live with, while keeping as much of the muscle I built up over the years carrying this obese carcass around. The weight on my ticker is 'perfection' and a weight I doubt I will achieve - My surgeon would be very happy with me if I reached 227 lbs!
    - Finally move forward with my martial arts training and stop being the 'goof' of the class.
    - Learn how to skate - I must be one of the few Canadians who do not know how
    - Next spring / summer compete in a mini triathlon and go on a 60 Km walk for a good cause.
    - Never, I repeat, never have to buy plus size clothes!
    - Finally learn to dance, and not like Mr. Roboto

Our goals, as my wife just had her RNY 2 weeks ago:

    - Add to our family
    Most Active
