Hello I'm going to have my RNY surgery in 2 days!
Good evening friends,
I'm full of excitement and nervousness as I've arrived in Utica and my operation is on Tuesday. I cannot believe the time has come. Please let me know how you felt days before and just after this operation.
Already met my first two friends Carlos & his wife Mireille here at the Holiday Inn on check. Met by the pool what a great feeling for me and I just feel it's my Higher Power giving me more signs that I've made the right choice.
Waiting to hear back!

Hello Peter,
I remember well the excitement and nervousness right before surgery. It is the best thing I ever did for myself and I have never had any real regrets. Good luck on Tuesday. You will soon be a new man. Just do exactly as the Dr says and everything will be fine. Let us know how everything goes.

I woke up my wife the night before surgery...asked..."Am I doing the right thing"?? She said "yes" and reassured me. She said you have thought about this for months, gone through all the test, prayed about it...had a peace about it. So yes you're doing the right thing. Cold feet are normal. Also a few day post op you'll get the "what have I got myself into!!" type of mindset. Then for most, it gets easier and easier. The days will go by slowly...almost like the army "hurry up and wait". A lot of waiting around the hospital. Bring earplugs and a face mask for sleeping. They will wake you up at all hours to check your vitals. Sleep when and where you can. Walking really helps with the gas. Each day out of the hospital gets better and better usually. Ask questions here and elsewhere. Later, Brian
Best of luck Peter. I think we were all are apprehensive as to whether we're doing the right thing having WLS. As I read the posts over the years here in the locker room, I haven't seen one which said they wouldn't do it again. Even the ones that had problems with their surgery are advocates so that tells you something.

Hey Man,
It is hard to forget those couple of days before the surgery. I seem to remember my mind racing as the reality of it started to become more tangible. The day before was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. I had a 12:00 procedure, and I was assuming that it was just going to drag but it ended up flying by.
I am just over 4 weeks out and I feel fantastic. I actually went on a weekend excursion to Starved Rock State Park here in Illinois. I haven't been able to do anything like this in years. While I still had to take it easy it was amazing to get out and about hiking.
Best of luck and keep us posted.

I am 4 days out and feeling better each day.
I had never had surgery so it was strange for me being in the hospital.
The night before surgery I had a friend call and pray for everything to go well and that touched me but it also brought the reality that it was the next day so my nervs got up a little for awhile.
the gas they pumped me full of was painfull my first day post op and I guess i must have blocked that info out because I remember telling them in recovery that ' I did not expect this much pressure' but I had great nurses and they assured me that things were fine and it would get better soon.
I am just a short timer so I won't try to give you advice but I can tell you that for me it gets better each day so grit your teeth a little the first couple of days then things start getting better quickly.
I can't wait to get this weight off and I know in a few months the results are going to be great.
Good Luck
