My surgery is scheduled for 9/30/2008.  I have a question about stomach hair.  How much do they shave your stomach?

They did not shave my hairy belly at all. The latest trend is that shaving before surgery actually increases the risk of wound infection, because you have all of the pores open and iritated from the razor. But there are a lot of ORs and surgeons who still shave, because that is how they were trained.

I had open and they shaved me up all the way.  It was beneficial afterwards when changing the dressings and tape.  Less to pull offf.

I was shaved around the areas where the lararoscopic ports were inserted.  It grows back quickly!

Thanks for the info..  I don't care one way or a nother, just wanted to make sure I did not need to go something before surgery.

I think it varies from hospital to hospital, but I was shaved from my waist to my just below my chest, it was back in less than a month though.  Good luck to you.

They only shaved me where they stuck in the ports and they told me not to do it my self.
