Home From Hernia Repair
Well boys, I am home today from yet another hernia repair, one of the many I have had both pre and post WLS. This time, the surgeon (who also did my RNY) used a bio-mesh, which if I understand correctly, is fabricated from human cadaver.....yummy!! But apparantly, your body is supposed to accept it better, and there is less chance of rejection or infection. We'll see, I have high hopes that this will be the last time. I cant keep going for the rest of my life worrying about a hernia repair every one to two years.
I feel pretty good and I'm able to get around fairly well. Funny how easier things are post-op when your 250 pounds lighter.
So, there'll be no gym and no beach (at least the swimming part) for me for a few weeks. I'll soften up a bit and lose my tan, but now I know how to handle it as far as eating. I'll be back in the thick of things in no time.
Also, I have a 25 year high school reunion coming up in mid October. When I graduated from high school, I was around 250 and 5'10". Now I am 195 and 6'. If most of them only knew how bad it got for me in between (I weighed almost 500 pounds in 1997). Should get a few dropped jaws regardless.
Take care fella's.
