Freewheelin Bike Share Sensation
Freewheelin Bike Share Program at the DNCIn just two days, more than 1,800 individuals from 49 states and 23 countries have taken almost 3,000 rides on the Freewheelin bicycles provided for use during the Democratic National Convention in Denver. Delegates, elected officials, visitors, and anyone downtown during the convention may sign up to use a bicycle for free. This bike-share program is provided by Humana and Bikes Belong and will travel to Minnesota for the Republican convention next week.

Among those who have used the bicycles in just the first two days,
they have traveled almost 9,000 miles, burned more than 250,000 calories and reduced their carbon footprint by 3.0 metric tons. The program is showcasing how bicycles are an ideal form of transportation, especially for the 40 percent of car trips that are less than two miles.

Now, that's impressive. What an advanced program!

Sapporo has bike share, but it's mostly high school kids who think everyone else's bike belongs to them. Lots of bike disappear when the weather goes bad.

I hope other cities adopt plans like Denver's.

Thanks for That,

Dave
