Hey guys

Well im pretty close to my goal, in terms of weight, but im struggling to get rid of that gut i had. Seems like im still carrying some fat and alot of skin around that area and lower down, so just wondering if anyone has some advice on what i might do to target that area and tighten up, im at the gym a few times a week and have a trainer, but they seem to want to do general strength training and not so much targetting areas, also i seem to have lost a lot of strength over the past few months, and i struggle to get much protien in, what must i do to be able to build some muscle in regards to food intake. What sort of food plan do you follow if you're working out in the gym a couple of times a week?

Cheers
Greg

I've been working my abs big time for the last 3 years post WLS. Crunches, situps, leg lifts, and the like. Pretty basic exercises but effective. You can't tighten the skin but you can build up the muscles below the skin. I had PS 2 years post-WLS after my weight had been stable for a year. Google "core exercise" and that will give you a great idea on a plan. In addition to strength training, you need to do cardio which my preference is cycling.

Food plan is easy......high protein (40% of daily calories), healthy fats and healthy carbs around 30% each.

Best of luck,

is 40/30/30 a pretty good rule of thumb immediately post surgery?

Nooooo.
First 3-4 months usually its 30g carbs or less per day, 60-80g protein. No sugar. 2-3 ounce meals. Your nutritionist and doc will give you a very good eating plan. And, about 5-6 months out, the formula is 70 percent protein, 30 percent veggies.

it's called a tummy tuck....sorry no amount of gym work will get rid of the excess skin, unless you are really really fortunate. But in terms of muscle loss, start drinking a few protein shakes a day, and add a good weight training regime, it will make things much better.
