Harping on Heat, Yoga and P90X Again

My lungs feel like vacuum cleaners and any friction I had in my joints from being 46 has gone away. I feel much better physically than I did in my teens or twenties (was not obese in my teens, but was in my twenties).

While they say it you get your best training if you get your heart rate up via exercise or sports ALONE, the fact remains that it is near impossible to get it up (err...sorry) for that long regularly and for as long as 90 minutes unless you're the star player in some field or court sport and are always playing the ball.

I'm sure the sprinting weights and P90X are factors, but the biggest difference came after my 7th hot yoga session (today will be 12th and 13th sessions after my mtn. bike ride. Something about keeping the heart rate elevated that regularly for that long a time.

This is mostly a rant for self expression, but I still hope someone can benefit from the info.

Best Wishes,

Dave

You are a model of physical fitness we all benefit from. I appreciate your self expression because I read this and see what I will be capable of doing some day soon. Thanks for keeping the information on the board.

The hot yoga sounds HOT...lol. I've heard about it for the last 15 years...and all the reports say the same thing, people are always talkign about how their "aches and pains" have gone away after a few sessions.

When I'm not recovering from sugeries...lol....i was doing yoga once or twice a week.....I'm going to search for a hot yoga place by my house. There are several "yoga retreat" centers by my house, perhaps one of them has it.

Just a theory, maybe it's the combination of sweating out the toxins in your body like a sauna, combined with the stretching of yoga, that causes your body to go into some type of toxin clean out mode???? This might sound like a weird question, but have you noticed a change in yoru ummm elimination? I noticed the day after I did yoga, that I'd eliminate better then the day before...something about the movement, the twisting, and stretching that got things flowing even better then they do normally. I know the research I've done on sauna therapy says that saunas are a good way to eliminate toxins from your sweat glands. it's flushes the system.

So it's just a throught.

Dave, express away...you are an example of fitness....I hope to follow in your foot steps as I fully recover.
