Thanks Bob, yes you were definately in my area!  I live in Circleville, but am in Columbus all the time due to a large amount of family there.  Have to meet sometime and compare notes!

I admire your efforts.  It's amazing that you have been out of work that long and are now among the workforce.

I'd look into the requirements for the stress test for the DOT.  I observe many people who drive who could never jog for 10 seconds and couldn't even imagine 2 minutes.  Just look at all of the elderly drivers who have knee or hip problems and are still able to drive.  I know that doctors can administer a stress test using chemicals to stress the body rather than actual physical activity.  You may want to see if there are exceptions for people with disabilities.

sjbob,

This is different from the regular stress test... for a DOT physical, I have to be able to prove that I'm actually able to exert myself (as in loading and unloading freight without adverse effects.

Chemical stress test just won't do it, plus, I've been on the 'disabilities' list long enough.. call it pride, call it determination, whatever.. I want to pass the regular test with no exceptions.

Thanks,,

Hey Dale,

Great to hear from your.  I think about you often and always hope that you are doing well.  Your trip is a lot longer than it is for most of us, but keep up the good work.  Even at work, you are doing great work.  You have the most important, dignified job on the planet.

Thanks Lou!

All those clothes you gave me sure are coming in handy!  I think I'm built a little different as the pants don't quite work yet, but the shirts and jackets are perfect!

Thanks again for all your help!

Hello Dale
Glad to hear things are still moving in a positive way for ya.  I admire you for working Hospice.  It takes a special man to do that and I know that others are blessed by your efforts.  Good luck on getting back to driving.   Don't be a stranger.

Steve,

Thanks man!  It's definately emotional.. I just lost a patient yesterday, and wow... hit me harder than I thought.  I've never been an emotional person.. I HATED emotions.. .literally HATED... them.. I had the opinion that intelligent people could control all emotions..  and my family suffered for it...

Now look at me.. LOL..

Guess this surgery changes more than our physical bodies.

Hey man, I'm kinda new here, just had my RNY done last week.  It is great to see the positive effect it has had on people like you.  You have gone a long way down the WLS road, but there is still a long way to go.  Keep up the great work.  It is people like you that helped me decide to do WLS.  And congrats on the job front.  It may not be your ideal job, but remember, successful people will do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do.

Keep on trucking.

Jay
