I've been riding a comfort bike that is called Giant.  It has big shock absorbers on the front and seems to be a hybrid of some sort.  The shocks are nice on dirt bike paths around here, but it sucks when you want to stand up and peddle because you bounce all over the place.

Take it easy.  Your not a teenager anymore.  If you get frustrated at riding...come back in Oct or Nov...or come back at it in the springtime.  That is why I say don't go hog wild on buying an expensive bike.  You might hate riding.  Yet, when you have lost the weight, it become easier and much more enjoyable.  Enjoy the ride...wherever it take you.  Brian

I ride a Cannondale Synapse 6 carbon for my road rides .
I have two Iron Horse mountain bikes  , one is a hard tail that I use to  commute on from time to time and just kikking it around the hood  . The other is for trail only . Although I love my road bike and putting long miles on it , its hard to beat a good day of riding up in the mountains on the trails . We here in Utah have two great types of riding , some of the best road riding and mountain biking in the world . I try to take advantage of this every chance I get , I LOVE TO RIDE ( now that I can ) LOL
Love life and it will love you back !
