Wish me luck!!
Today is the day that I start my 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Any tips on helping stay sane? Is it going to be as hard as it sounds? I'm going to apologize in advance for the number for the number of posts I make *****ing about this part of the process.
Any good recipes you could share would be awsome too.
Thanks again guys. It wont be long till I need room on the losers bench.
Also, my wife has bet me that I cant lose as much weight on my liquid diet as she did. (15 lbs)
Loser does all house chores for a month!!!!!

Craig you'll do fine try and keep your intake every two hours then you'll stay ahead of the hunger. The first few days you will probably get headaches the body is de-toxin and you've shocked it what where's the donuts?? But try drinking broth for the headaches. If your mental prepared for the WLS you'll do fine, hell you should be excited that your finally begin your journey! Now would be the time to start journaling everything you do eat, exercise, crap etc. Good Luck. Bob
One thing I would do to is to take a lot of pre op pictures to help record your journey. It will especially help when you think you have hit a stall. Look back at those pictures and see how far you have come. Also you will be able to relax more as your wife cleans the house after you win the bet. lol
Hey Craig is is a bear. It does depnend on how much you had adjusted your eat prior to now though. The further off the harder it is.
Me personally I would stay away from eating out and feeding other people but if you eat out order the most expensive peice of protein with the smallest amount of sauces and all the freash grilled veggies or steams veggies you can.
I had a hard time taking bites of other peoples food (high calorie stuff). But it did stave off the craving and kept me from eating the whole thing. I have no idea how much I lost. I know over the course of the month previos I lost at least 13 pounds. I was not as strict as I could have been. I wish you luck. I would have to say eating constantly off the menue they give you is good advise.
Based on how men loose vs women I think you will beat her.

Craig, I've been on the (mostly) liquid diet for two weeks already, and I figure I'll have about two more to go. My surgeon suggested I start extra early, and it's been a real pain, but it still hasn't been quite as bad as I expected. The protein shakes are tastier than I imagined (I figured they'd taste just like colored chalk), but I've liked the Advanta and Atkins brands a lot.
I'm very tired of sugar free jello, but as someone else mentioned, having the broth helps. I also drink a whole lot of Krystal Light and sugar free lemonade.
Good luck and hang in there!

Thanks for all the great advice. My first day and I almost screwed up. I was at the hospital for my pro-op labs to be drawn and was there almost an hour early. So, the receptionist suggested I go down to the lunch room and have something to eat. I actually reached for chicken before it hit me. "What are you thinking!!!!" Force of habit I guess.
So I got a couple of flavored waters instead.
Thanks again.
