I'm currently into grapes as my snack of choice. Little high in sugar (carbs) for newbies but I seem to be able to handle them aok. Here's a link to the Daily Plate web site which provides all the nutritional factoids about most any food. Great resource imo.

So, what you be snackin' on?

I love the dailyplate and use it daily.  I haven't done much snacking.  I tend to be grazer (sp?) and pick at food. I notice that I am doing this once in a while.  Like when my wife is cooking, I may just take a tiny peice of chicken or veggy.  At this point, it is pretty small, but I am worried that this will grow.

I recently got turned on to Edamame (How in the world do you pronounce that anyway?) I thought it was heavenly with lots of protein.  I want to find a place to buy it already out of the pod and flavored.  That seems like a good snack to me. Mostly, I drink water trying to get enough fluid everyday 5 weeks ou t.

Planters Nut-trition Healthy Heart mix. Just 5g carbs per serving.
I haven't tried any fruit yet, as my particular plan says no. (5 months out).

The only thing I snack on is more Water. No snacking allowed for this newbie, I dont even get soft foods for another week or so. But this is a very intriguing question and I look forward to the other replies.

I've never been much of a snacker. I have a buddy whose motto is, "Why bother drinking if you're not gonna get drunk?". I kinda followed the food version of that for many years I guess. "Why bother eating if you're not gonna eat a cubic foot?". So eating a little bit here and there never has appealed to me much. As far as snack foods are concerned? I'm kinda big on prunes right now. I started eating them a couple of months ago to help out with the discharge vent problems and discovered that I actually kinda like them. Enough so that I have to be careful and not eat the whole damned can in one setting. My big deal now though is the Swiss Miss no sugar added Hot Chocolate mix. It's only 25 calories per serving. I mix about 4 servings in to a pint of ho****er and stir it up and then poor about a pint of coffee in on top of that. I'm to big a ***** to drink coffee straight, but I like it cut 50/50 with hot chocolate.  It dang sure fills up a lot of empty for only 100 calories.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.

I love the cubic foot remark! If that isn't the truth I don't know what could be. I'm sancking on nothing really haha. I barely eat enough to make a damn. Some days I'll eat and others will just be hit or miss.

Since I'm trying to eat healthier, I will have a bowl of bran cereal or  sometimes just a small banana. I'm avoiding things higher in sugar becasue they cause carb cravings. I also will have a shake as a snack.

What I keep in my pockets: small amounts of plain walnuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, dry roasted peanuts, roasted plain soy nuts, Cheerios, plain banana chips (no sugar added), Wasa light rye crackers, beef jerkey.  Guys new to WLS may want to keep some of these in your car or at work...if you're stuck in the middle of nowhere.  Brian  PS I keep a can of vegetable beef or chicken vegetable soup in my car for any major breakdowns.  Also I keep extra vitamins there too.

I don't snack very often during the day, but at night I've been eating salted peanuts in their shells a lot. I have enjoyed sitting and cracking nuts. And, I always knew that nuts were a good choice, but according to the daily plate (great site, btw) their equal protein/carb balance. Bravo!
