Pre-OP Slip up
Hopefully my surgeon isn't reading this board!
I'm scheduled for my by-pass this coming Monday. I've been pretty good on my pre-op diet but today I messed up big time. I stopped by Sonic on my way home from work for a Diet Limeade and ended up ordering some mozzarella sticks.
Dr. Ganta's pre-op diet isn't as strict as some. All he really asks for is that you keep the carbs under 30g a day and the fat at or below 10g. Obviously I blew both those numbers out today.
I know the pre-op diet is to shrink the liver. All afternoon I've been worried about what I've done to myself. Should I confess tomorrow at my final pre-op Dr. appt and possibly delay my surgery or just straighten up and fly right from here on out?
Mars
Oh yes, me too! About 3 days before my surgery I went to a Chinese restaurant and ate well over 2 plates piled high with food. And then 2 days before the surgery I went to Raising Cane's chicken place twice in that day and ordered the same caniac combo and added 4 extra chicken fingers to it and extra fries and extra toast. So yeah, one slip up will not kill you...I'm here to tell you it won't haha.
If you're gonn **** up your pre-op diet, do it right. Sonic? I don't think so. Cheese sticks? I fart in your general direction.
Do it up right man. You're in Wimberley? Drive over to Llano and go to Cooper's and get a couple of pork ribs, a hunk of rib eye, a pork chop, a half chicken, some donkey dick sausage, and maybe a little brisket. Much more satisfying than cheese sticks and you'll probably stay under your doctors carb limit. Of course the fat content will be off the charts but........
I hear there's a great BBQ place over in Lockhart too but I've never been there.
Just kiddding podnah. Get up, dust off your britches, and don't worry about it.

The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.
Yeah, one order of cheese sticks isn't going to kill the diet, just don't make it a habit. I didn't really have to do a pre-op diet in the same sense that many do, but I still had to lose 35 before surgery. I did cheat a little during that time, but didn't make a habit of it and didn't feel bad. My Nut encouraged me to have a nice dinner on Saturday night before surgery, as it will be the last real meal for a while. I did enjoy a nice dinner that night and had a nice breakfast on Sunday. They just don't want you to go overboard.
