Boner,
It funny that you said that Al Roker is the person who got you thinking about WLS. It was his surgery that really got me to consider it. After his surgery thought about it and about a year and a half ago I started my last ditch effort to loose the weight with diet and exercise. Since I went to my WLS orientation class last November, you can guess how the diet and exercise plan went, but I needed to convice myself that I had tried all I could before I went under the knife.
I have to say, I feel that I owe so much to Al Roker for putting this idea in my mind. I am not sure if I would be living this life today without his planting the seed.

Hey guys
Al Roker's doctor is Dr. Kurian. She is now part of the group I use. I have seen her for post-surgery follow up. She is great and a real ball of fire. She is also the author of the WLS for Dummies book, which is very educational for all newbies. My doctor and her husband are co-authors of Ali's book about obesity in her family and lap-band surgery.
Does that put me on the list by association?
Lou

I was totally scared of RNY and wanted the lap band, which I had located through internet searches about obesity. My impression at the time (may have been mistaken) was that Al Roker had had more than one surgery and was still gaining back his weight. So although I knew he had had surgery, it wasn't a factor.
My first contact in Japan convinced me that the RNY was safe and would also help protect me if I slipped and began eating liquid calories/ sweets.
This is has got me curious. Has Al had more than one surgery?
Thanks,
Dave
