tell me it ain't so
i was under the impression that after the surgery (i'm one week out) there wouldn't be hunger. well, i'm hungry. the quarter cup meals i'm eating just ain't cutting it. i'm eating cream soups and yogurt but it doesn't satisfy. i've heard about head hunger and part of me just wants something to chew on, is this it? will this change? i'm hoping my pouch isn't too big. i just want some food. arrgggg.

What type of surgery did you have? RNYs and VBGs cut the nerves to the stomach, so you have no sensation for about 6 months until they reconnect.
Lap band leaves them intact, and I don't know about DSs.
For those first 6 months, it was almost heaven, not getting hungry. I literally had to set an alarm clock to remind me to eat, or my wife would have a fit because she got hungry and wouldn't eat without me.
The head hunger phase took about 2 weeks to get over, for what it's worth.
I'm 3 years out, and I still can overlook meal time if I'm busy, but as soon as whatever holds my attention subsides, I'll be as hungry as anyone who is unaltered.

You'll be fine, Jim and the hungry feeling is most likely "head hunger" being that they cut away all the nerve endings which send the "hungry" signal from your pouch to your brain. The nerves eventually grow back, the pouch expands and that's the end of the "honeymoon" phase of WLS. So, develop those good eating and exercise habits now and you'll be good to go.
Best of luck.
