Clapton's surgery

Hi, everyone.  This is "Clapton's" wife.  He had his gastric bypass surgery today, Monday, Sept 22.    They removed his gall bladder too.  The bypass portion of the surgery went very well, the doctor said. The gallbladder was a different story.   They had to "dig" it out since it was scarred down, I guess.  "Clapton" is sore, tired, out of it, pale, and has pretty low blood pressure:  99 / 44.  He has walked about 200 feet and is getting in / out of bed independently with use of the trapeze.   He asked me to post this information...knowing you guys would be supportive and sending postive thoughts his way.  I, as the wife, appreciate that immensely.  I will continue to post messages for him until he is ready to so!  Questions:  how long were you all in the hospital?  Did any of you have trouble with the gall bladder removal?  Did your incisions ooze quite a bit?  Did any of you have trouble with low blood pressure?  Thanks for your responses!

I can't answer your questions, but I want you to let him know that we are all going to be thinking about him and wishing him well, which we all expect.

Hi.....please send all our positive thoughts and prayers to Clapton. Tell him to hang in there and he'll soon be up and around....losing vast amounts of weight....and joining us on our locker room loser's bench!! Just make sure he listens to his doc and his NUT and follow all their orders and diet. I had lap bypass so I was only in hospital for 3 days. I had no other complications to help you with. Here's hoping his recovery is quick and pain free!!!   John

here's hoping for a quick recovery. i am a week out of surgery and had trouble with my blood pressure getting a little low as well. it was related to my fluids, i believe and it was ok within a day. i was only in the hospital for a day and a half. let him know he's in our thoughts and we look forward to "seeing" him here before too long.

Great news
glad clapton made the surgery well and as far as the gall bladder its better now than later.
My Daughter just had hers out and went home the same day it was Lapriscopic.
If his surgery was Lap he should have about 3 days and if they cut him open it is more like 6 days.
Tell his Indianasteve is rooting for hem and he is in my prayers.
God Bless

So glad you took the time to post for Clapton. I had rny April 1st and went home about noon on April 3, kept my gallbladder but they did do a biopsied on my liver. Really no complications all incisions healed fine I think the worst part was the dry mouth immediately post surgery and the Anastasia gas pressure left after about five days. Good luck to both of you I know your emotionally drained as well. C'ya Rocky Top

Good to hear he is doing ok. I was in for 3 nights with an open RNY, I kept my gall bladder. I had alot of drainage and my bp was also very low, it was kind of freaking my out as I allways run high. The doctors and nurse did not seem real concerned when I asked them they said it was a result of the different drugs and the surgery it self. He will be find in a coupleof days.

Thanks for sharing and send Clapton my best. I was in the hospital for 2 days following WLS and everthing went smoothly. They left my gallbladder in after taking a look at it during the surgery. My incisions oozed for several weeks and I had to leave the suction bags on for like 4 weeks which was a pain. Blood pressure was somewhat low but no problem.

Had my surgery on a Monday, went home on Wednesday. I didn't have my gall bladder out but I did have a hernia repaired in the navel area which added somewhat to the complications and the recovery time. He'll be sore as hell for about 10 days I'd imagine. Once you get home, you may have to help him in and out of bed for a day or two. I certainly have no experience with the low blood pressure. Mine hasn't been under 130/85 that I know of in over 10 years. Tell ol' Clap to hang in there. My experience is that the next 2 wks will be the worst part of it and it's all gravy (there's **** poor metaphor from our old life) from there.

Good news about the Clap.  Remind him of the Four Mantras and he'll do fine.  Get ready to have a whole new man on your hands!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!
