First post op post
I'm now two weeks post op. It took me so long to post because I'm one of those guys who lives in Ohio and the day after I came home, our power went out for a week. That makes the recovery time a bit more complicated.
The only real surgical complication I had was the fact that my doc had to poke a couple of extra holes (lap) because so much of my weight is right up front. So, I'm going to have nine little scars to deal with. I haven't made up my mind whether to tell people I was attacked by a shark, or involved in a gangland shooting. Somehow, I'll make it interesting.
A couple of days later, I had an attack of shingles. For me, that means a sharp, stabbing pain in my right side that makes it difficult to take a breath. That was just bad timing. It could have been brought on by the stress of surgery. Who knows?
Anyway, I'm getting by on protein suppliments, thin cream soups, and thinned yogurt. Believe it or not, I'm not the least bit hungry. Don't get me wrong. There are still foods that sound really good to me, but I know that's head hunger. I'm down 38 pounds since the beginning of my liquid diet five days before surgery. I think that's pretty good.
Well, time for a walk, then I think I'll treat myself to a glass of V8!

Glad to hear your doing fine Dan, sounds like your right on track. If your having trouble with protein you might look at Greek Yogurt it has between 15-22g. Wal-mart, Shop Right and Krogers have it one of the name's Oikos get the plain the flavored type is high in sugar, I mix a little cinnamon and equal into it for flavor. Keep up the sip, sip, walk, walk, C'ya Rocky Top
