BLOOD WORK RESULTS...
Last week I had my five month follow up with my PCP for the weight loss documentation. They did blood work as planned.. I THOUGHT everything would come back BETTER. But, in fact everything was GOOD except my CHOLESTEROL was ELEVATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The good stuff was DOWN and the bad stuff was UP?????????????????????????????????? I just lost 60 pounds???? and its worst???????? How can that be?? TOTAL CONFUSION!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone have any suggestions on how that happens.......................... I see the dietitian tomorrow maybe she can suggest something. But, has that happened to anyone else after a BIG LOSS?? I know it wasnt the Cheese stuffed MATZOH BALLS I had two weeks ago??

That was a thought actually..I have brought it it to the doctor who knows most of my family history and really its out of the norm for me and the rest of my family.. Even +60 pounds ago my Cholesterol was ALWAYS at or UNDER the norm. Right now is the ONLY TIME its has every been high. I chatted with a doctor on WEB MD who suggested it may be a result of my changing body. I am going through my diet log just to make sure its not dietary maybe I am doing something that Im not aware of. We'll see Im going to make a another appointment with the PCP just to go over the results of the blood work. And Im going to talk it over with my dietitian tomorrow.

Thanks it has been an easier route then I thought and the time has gone by SO FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, I have had SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much help.. Besides between having to get weighed at the PCPs office once per mnth, with my Victoria Secret Model Dietitian once a month, the surgions office once a month, Weigh****chers Once per week and Once a month weigh in for the NATIONAL study they have me involved with,,, To have gained or stayed at the same weight would have been too embarrasing.

Just a thought, not really sure if this has anything to do with why your cholesterol would have gone up, but worth asking the nutritionist or MD.
Cholesterol is important building block of individual cell structure. I also believe it is found in fat cells. Since you have lost 60 pounds, has this released cholesterol into your blood stream that was previous contained within the fat. Similar to the increase in testosterone that everyone here has commented on.
I have nothing to base this on and it could easily be completely wrong, but my mind got wandering after reading your post.
Like others have said genetics play such a huge part in cholesterol levels, triglycerides and heart disease. It really sucks when the scale says you are so much healthier, but the lab work is going in the wrong direction. Don't let this shift your attention from your long term goals. Even if this increase in cholesterol is not tempory, there are so many effective medications to help get this under control now a days.
Had you eaten before the blood work was drawn, this can sometimes have an effect? Most physicians do not pay attention to just one elevated value, they look at trends over time.

Thats basically what he said... I guess when you loose weight one thing that happens is those fat cells that CLUMP together break apart, kind of like if you shake up a bottle of oil and water... In stead of the FATTY material clumping together and floating to the top it breaks up and mixes with the liquid. He said it could actually be a good thing that this is happening...
We'll just have to see what happens next month because if this is the case then next month my cholesterol reading should be different again.
