Just another new guy in town....

Hi, I joined the forum last weekend, looking for info on lap band surgery, etc.  I'm working on getting set up for surgery.   The MD's office said my insurance company will pay for surgery if I go on a 12 week doctor-supervised diet.  Sounds fair enough.  I meet the doctor for the first time in October and, if all goes well, should have my surgery in February.

I live in the southwest suburbs of Chicago.  Anyone else from this area?

12 weeks.....thats rough. I was lucky I only had to do mine for three months.

Thanks for the encouragement.  After discussions with the surgeon's office, I have a very positive feeling.  With a little bit of luck, I'll make it to surgery by next February.

I checked on some recent posts and saw that bullyanky is from Woodstock IL which is about 20 NW of Chicago.  You might want to contact him ( although I typed it in boldface, that's not a link).  I also suggest that you look at past posts (at the bottom of the page) and look for men discussing the lap band.  You may also want to skim through the Illinois Forum to see if there are other men posting there.  You can contact them directly or post on that Forum.

Anyway, welcome to the Men's Forum.  You'll find that there are a lot of great guys here.  Plus, you can ask whoever you want to be your friend through OH.  We now have quite a few guys who are in their mid 40s and older.  I'm 58 and I seem to get along better with other guys who are closer to my age.  I do try to get along with everyone.

Btw; there are a few of us banders here in the locker room .
I have lost 125 lbs and kept it off for almost three yrs now . My wife is a bander too and has lost over 100 lbs.
