Motivators for weight loss
I have to agree - I feel like I am not a real father, that I am just barely getting through the day doing the necessities to provide for my family. With 7 of the kiddos it is mentally and physically exhausting day after day. On top of that I have been remodeling my home and with the extra 240 lbs hanging off of me it has been a bear cat to keep myself going.
I want to live and feel alive and energetic at home and at work. Life right now is just one exhausting moment after another.
Thanks for your comments.

I was sick and tired of being sick and tired with weight issues.
I wanted to be thin for a number of reasons not all of them good
There was health
There was also the kids I was tired of thinking they were ashamed to have the FAT DAD
I wanted to look good. Not the best reason.
WLS was going to be the key to a new and more prosperous life. I was going to get a full time job etc
Most of it worked.

I hear all of you guys on your motivators. I plan to have a VSG buy the end of the year if possible. (so i can get part of the self pay cost back on my taxes) Im only 28, and i cant bear to weigh almost 400 lbs any longer. My weight burden is not quite as bad as some because of my hieght (almost 6' 4") but it hinders me in more ways than i can count. After trying many combinations of diet and excercise im throwing in the towel and opting for surgery. Im sure all of you know what im speaking about.
Here's a few of my motivators...
- I plan to get married in the next year or two, i want to look good in the pics and in a tux. I absolutely hate being in pictures at my current wieght.
- I too want to be more energetic one of these dayse when i have kids, ( my girl plans on starting in 3 years or less)
- I want to "fit" in foreign, sport, and muscle cars again!!!!
- I would like to be able to get back on a jet ski when i fall off of one in the middle of the lake!!!
- I want to be more comfortable on airplanes, I love to travel, but its hard right now.
- I'd like to buy clothes in the regular clothing section of stores.
- I'd like to wake up in the mornings and feel refreshed and ready to go!!
Hopefully a few of you will have a good chuckle when you read this, im sure most every man on here can relate in one way or another.

Happy to see you taking a look at regaining your life at such a young age, Ryan. I'm a tad under 6'5" and maxed out around 500 pounds prior to having WLS. I can assure you the 400 pounds will start taking its toll physically the older you get. Obesity is a frickin' time bomb.
I waited 15 years too long before opting for WLS. I feel being obese for that many years were really "wasted years." So much more I could have accomplished if I hadn't been morbidly obese. Water under the bridge now but still have regrets.
Anywho, congrats on your decision and best of luck in your journey.
