Back surgery went well last night

I see a neuro-surgeon slash anesthesiologist doctor for my back issues and yesterday evening he did a lumbar disc decompression for me. Well it went well enough I suppose, but now I'm sore as **** and can't really sleep. I got up and took some pain meds but I'm just sreiously hoping this did the trick so I can start exercising like everyone else on this board who says stuff like "I just ran my 333333 mile race" etc. I haven't really been able to exercise this entire time because it really hurts my back. Maybe now I can enjoy some of that nice exercise stuff I hear of haha. But anyway, I'm fine, just sore as hell. Anyone else have a similar story to share?

I hear you loud and clear Lance. I have a bone spur on the back of my ankle which rubs the Achilles tendon and hurts like hell when flared up (any time I bend my ankle a lot). It makes walking very difficult and currently they have me wearing this walking boot/cast thing for 6 weeks. I want to get out and exercise but can't do most things. I can seem to sort of do a stationary bike with it on.

Prior to my surgery I was at the gym a lot and working on my upper body but managed to re-injure my right shoulder so working the upper body has been out till I can figure out what they want me to do to help that out. Had MRI and just have not seen Dr to follow up yet.

It is frustrating to have the desire and will to exercise and have the body fall apart and say no when it it optimal in my weight loss to be doing this.

Glad to hear your back treatment went well, Lance. I used to have back problems when I was luggin' my massive gut but the issues went away with the weight loss along with my ab and back workout stuff.

The doc said that since I lost so much weight so quickly it actually aggravated the condition even more so in my case losing all of that weight so quickly wasn't the best thing in the world all around. But I'll make it I think. Just have to get unsore. And I know how it feels to have the desire to exercise because I have all of this new energy but my back just says LANCE BE DAMNED! and I'm stove up for a week haha. Maybe that will be in soon in the past.

Thanks fritz. I feel a little better. Still sore as a 2 dollar ***** on quarter night, though.

Gross!  Talk about "sloppy seconds" or needing to tie a board across your ass to keep from falling in.

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Lance, glad to hear you are doing well.

It sounds like you had the lasar surgery where they burn out part of the disc - Not sure. Do they change the shape? As I recall they make one or both sides concave and then the nerve retracts. Have I got it right?

Get better fast and you'll be up and exercising before you know it,

Dave

No this was a situation where doc took tissue out of the disc and supposedly it will reabsorb the bulging part of the disc thereby decreasing the pressure on the nerves.
