OK, fellas.....time to fess up
Don't pick a musclehead gym Michael!
I work out at the local YMCA, there number of people in there with the perfect gym rat bodies is pretty few. What I see is a lot of people who come in to get their exercise, and go home. It's not a fashion show or a posing competition.
I started there before the surgery when I was 441 pounds, and I never got a vibe from any of them that I shouldn't be there. Never got that look that says omg this guy will only be here a week.
You can do it. Even if you don't join a gym, get off your ass and start walking or riding a bike. Take the dog for a walk if you have one, do something that isn't a traditional workout, but that gets your heart beating, blood pumping and metabolism reving up.
Good luck!

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
I've been exercising at least 6 days a week. Last night I went to the YMCA and did my first spinning class for 45 minutes. I followed this up wtih 20 minutes of swimming and then another dancing class with my wife.
On a related note: I remember back to something someone said here about our changing bodies and how that changes our emotions. I have noticed that I have become more reactive to my wife. One of the areas has been around excercising. She is concerned that I am pushing too hard with my running and everything. In some ways, exercising has become another addition for me and I am not very open to dissenting views on the subject right now. When she brings it up, I feel like it is more of a threat because I know that it wouldn't take much for me to stop and I don't want to stop. I am afraid of returning to the lethargic person I was two months ago. I think she truly is concerned that i don't overdo it, but it feels different when she says it.
Anyway, I am concerned about my anger and hurt feelings with her. I feel a lot more emotional than I used to and hope that this too shall pass along with my weight.

I am an assistant coach on two hockey teams which usually translates into 3-4 ice slots per week. Put them all together and it's about 5 hours of exercise time. I also play in an adult league which is much more exercise for an additional 1 hour.
Admitedly, though, I have not kept up with the weight lifting as I should have. I really need to kick that back up to regain some of the muscle I have lost.
I also used to walk 4 times a week during lunch but have totally dropped that regimen. It just didn't seem to be doing anything for me.

Play hard or go home.

I run 4 to 6 days a week and walk 2 miles every day at work on my lunch break, 3.5 on Friday when I get a hour. I was running 6 to 7 days a week, but as I have incresed my distances I let my knees tell me what to do the next day. I do give my self a day off when I do a long run. Need to do more cross training, but I really like to run. Damn, I never thought I would be saying that.

"SPECIAL DISPENSATION...SPECIAL DISPENSATION" Where is the Pope when you need him? Since I have had my procedure for my heart. I am limited to the amount of walking I can do. I go to the PA tommorow and get cleared for things like bike riding and longer walks. I can't lift anything over 10 pounds for right now. I weedeated the lawn but my wife and daughter had to mow it. That really can make you feel useless. So I am walking for my heart, but taking it slowly. About 3 miles a day. Hope to get back up to 6-7 miles and get the heart rate up with exercise too. Brian
