What's new?
A lot of us could make a laundry-list of many guys on this forum, but I think it's a good thing to collect. If not for your own metacognative practice, then for the ones still weighing the debate.
I'll start with a few:
3 hour intense Broadway-type dance practices
Getting checked out by hot girls (guys too, subsequently...)
Job-seeking w/o thinking interviewers are wondering how fat I am.
Choosing NOT to run across campus when I'm late not because I CAN'T, but because I just don't want to.
Seeing the disbelief in people's faces when I say I've lost 120.
Great thread....here's a partial list of my physical goals for the rest of 2008 and 2009 not in any particular order of importance:
1. Learn how to rock climb
2. Sub-5 hour Colorado 100 miler
3. Be 199 pounds, if just for one day
4. Ride 2009 RAGBRAI with Big Boner and a bunch of you guys
5. Continue my quest of riding the top 25 highest mountain passes in Colorado (12 left)
6. Earn me a Bob Cook Mt. Evans Hill Climb cycling jersey
7. Sub-8 hour Triple Bypass
8. Break 60 mph on my bike
9. Elephant Rock 50 miler with my 10 year daughter
10. Get my 22 year old son "on the bike."
Boner
1) Be able to see my feet when I look straight down.
2) Be able to see my penis by looking straight down.
3) Be able to feel my ribs.
4) Being able to be full after a few bites and continuing to eat because I know I HAVE to not because I'm still STARVING.
5) Getting comlimented on my size by girls and guys.
6) Being told that I look "skinny" that to me is like ridiculous.
7) Be able to walk up x number of stairs without breaking a sweat and/or being winded for 30 minutes afterwards.
8) Be able to do more activities in general with the people I love.
9) Weigh less than I did when I was a young teen.
10) Have my diabetes under a lot better control and not have to take as much insulin.
11) Not be afraid that I'll be impotent and become sterile from being overweight at the young age of 21.
That's about it for now. I should do a blog about this. I like this topic!
Working out on the elliptical for 60 minutes, and feeling good not exhausted. Hell I couldn't have exerciesd that long before.
Having people tell me not to loose any more weight.
Being called Slim Jim at work.
Being excited to buy new clothes and being much more concerned about each item.
I want one of those heart rate monitor watches. (I still am an electronics geek, but it is exercise related electronic fun)
Like Lance, feeling my ribs. It just amazes me that when I lay down I can feel the inside of my rib cage! I also find myself rubbing my clavices, with out really thinking about it because now i can.
I am no longer the largest person in a gathering.
Jim
I'm only a month out, so my short range goals aren't as ambitious as rock climbing or mountain biking. Someday, I'll have those things on my list, but I'm not used to thiniking like that, yet. I am looking forward to fixing up my bike and riding around the neighborhood next spring.
I'm looking forward to:
- Taking the seat belt extender out of my car
- Wearing sox
- Wearing athletic shoes that tie instead of velcro
bunches of other stuff
