I want to run a 5k in the spring of 2009.  I have just today have lost my first 100 pounds.  my new little goal is to lose 10 more pounds to be 300 pounds.  To do this I start the couch to 5k program, but my friend lost the paperwork.  SO all I know is the first week.

If anybody know the program can you please send it to me. I found the program on this OH site, but I dont know where.

Here it is:

Personally, for me, when I started to work up to running, I just kept trying to push myself to the next quarter mile and had to convince myself to just go until I couldn't any longer. Then I would walk and then try to run a little more. But that's just how it worked for me.

Once you get to the 5k distance, it's a nice goal and it does become sort of addicting, especially when you set a goal to run a race, then it's even more fun to set the internal goals of the race (i.e. beat a set time, finishing place, etc). I set my goals for my first 5k sort of strict (dont' finish last in my age group, don't finish last in the race, and break 30 minutes). But the first goals are to get to the race!

Good luck and enjoy the fun!
