Surgery time!
Congratulations to both of you. Well, I can't remember all that I brought but do know that I didn't use most of it. For example, I had my mp3 player with relaxation stuff on it, I had a book of puzzles and other reading materials, I never had time nor use for these things as I was only in for two days.
I would bring a change of underwear, chapstick, and check into the sleep apnea machine if you use one. This made all the difference for me sleeping better the second night. Some doctors have differing views on the CPAP following surgery so check with your surgeon.

On top of what is mentioned so far be sure to include your slippers or some of those socks with the gripper stuff on them so you can walk the floor like you're supposed to and keep your feet wam. Have some comfortable clothes to wear home also.
Lest I forget a Friendly reminder about the Four Mantras of Life Post WLS:
1. Sip, sip, sip. Need the fluids.
2. Walk, walk, walk. Need the excercise and prevents blood clots.
3. Any problems - CALL YOUR DOCTOR!! Nuff said.
4. NEVER, and I mean NEVER trust a fart!! Could redecorate your surroundings!
