Can anyone tell me the symptoms of gallbladder stuff? I seem to be having some dull to sharp pain underneath my right ribcage and the only explanation is gas or gallbladder giving out on me. Anything will help of course!

How long have you had the pain, what was the last thing you had to eat before it started. if you  gently press on it, does it make the pain better.

fatty foods tender to trigger gallbladder pain. sometimes if there are stones in the gb, they tend to block the duct.

Well my PCP... Ordered an ULTRA SOUND????? Of my abdomen to look for Gallstones.
I copied this from MSN HEALTH.. This is exactly what I have been experiencing. Thanks for bringing it up. I wouldnt have thought to bring it up. It really dosent happen that often to me any way but he said my symptoms could be a sign that they are forming.  BUT, I THOUGH I WAS TO FAT FOR AN ULTRA SOUND... Right or Wrong???

Gallstones are deposits like small stones that form in bile, a fluid that helps digestion; bile is stored in the gallbladder, a sac under the liver. Gallstones can develop in the gallbladder or in the bile ducts, which are tubes that carry bile to the small intestine.

Gallstones can be smaller than a grain of sand or as large as a golf ball. They generally do not cause problems unless they block a tube (duct) leading from the gallbladder to other organs. When this happens, abdominal pain and other symptoms develop suddenly.

Gallstones are common. They develop when there is too much cholesterol in the bile for the cholesterol to remain dissolved or when the gallbladder does not empty as quickly as it should. Gallstones are most common in women, people who are obese, older people, people with sickle cell disease, people who have lost weight rapidly, and people who are taking certain medicines.

Most people who have gallstones do not have any symptoms and do not need treatment. If symptoms develop, they usually will include pain in the upper abdomen and are rarely life-threatening. However, pain from gallstones can vary in intensity and may cause vomiting. Gallstones that cause symptoms usually are treated with surgery to remove the gallbladder (cholecystectomy)...............

I can't speak from experience but I've seen my wife go through too many gall bladder attacks.  Gall bladder pain tends to be very severe.  The pain you are describing "sounds" like stomach/pouch irritation.  This, I have had.  Mine sort of came in waves, it would stop and then start over the course of several hours.  I went to the doc with it, was prescribed and took Prevacid and it was gone the next day.  My wife's gallbladder would put her on the floor with pain.  Let's hope this isn't the case with you.

Good luck dude.

Lance,

For what it is worth to you I'm not familiar with what a gallbladder attack would feel like.  I can tell you that at my sixth month visit a couple of weeks ago they did a sonogram.  It showed what the tech called "sludge" in my gallbladder.  According to her the "sludge" is what develops into the stones.  Hence thus therefore I was prescribed Ursodiol for the next six months to alleviate the aforementioned "sludge".

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Thanks. I am taking my Actigal (ursodiol) just for fun and Prevacid.

I had gallbladder attacks. I was doubled over puking until nothing came out but I was still puking. The room would spin and the relief would come when I hung over the bed. I still remember and it's been 4 years. You might have a muscle pull but get it checked.

I have had a steady kind of cramp (very mild persitent pain) behind my right rib cage in the back for a couple weeks.  I talked with my bariatric PA about this (I am lucky since I see him at work everyday) and he said it was likely from my body changing its shape and form, along with the excercising.  For me, he didn't think it was anything to worry about.
