OT: a Big Philly Error
Philly is having a victory parade today. For the past 2 days they've been asking everyone to take public transportation. Now, the parade is going to start in a half hour and they're now telling those not there to drive into the city and walk the rest of the way. The subways in Philly are running fine, but the regional rail lines are 1 hour behind schedule and loaded trains aren't even stopping at closer stops. PATCO lots in NJ are jammed and the wait for tickets for those trains is now at 2 hours. Yipes! You'd think someone would have anticipated this response.
In defense of the transportation system, it now seems that they were originally anticipating 1 million people coming to the parade. But, the weather is gorgeous for this time of year. Now they are thinking they might get as much as 2 million fans at the parade. The route is long enough that people who drive down now will still be able to see the end of the parade.
I'm not a baseball fan, but everyone in the area is caught up with the Phillies Phever.

The TV shots are amazing! Broad Street is a sea of people. I know that my son is there somewhere, but I'll have to wait until this evening to hear where he was. We considered going, just to take in the atmosphere, but I think we have a better show on TV.
Not a big fan actually, but it has been fun to watch the world series.

I hope all those Philly fans have a great time today. In fact, I hope they get smashed off their asses and don't wake up until Wednesday.

The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.
I don't think anybody in city hall had a vague idea of how many people would actually show up.
One of my other friends drove to Broad and locust, which is just off the Ben Franklin bridge, watched the parade pass him, he left went out to dinner, visited his sister and then went home to watch the end of the parade going into Citizen Bank Park.
and didn 't miss much. cuz the dam parade was so long.
