Hunger phases anyone?

Question to post-op RNYers about hunger.  A little less than 6 months post-op I went through a major stall that lasted about 3.5 weeks.  During this stall, I did lose some inches but not something amazing or anything.  Then I started to get hunger cravings... no where near pre-op but to the point where I'd eat something, but then feel like I needed more later.  I thought, well this is it... You got 6 months out of the surgery, you're on your own.  But over the last week and half, I started losing like crazy again, almost 1-2 pounds a day.  Now my hunger issues are gone, and I get feel totally satisfied with my few ounces of chicken or whatever for hours... like it was just post-op.  Almost where I'm forgetting to eat again because I don't get hunger pains.

So back to the question(s)....  Is my body playing tricks on me?  During the stall, is it trying to get me to eat more and make me hungry because it doesn't like what I did to it?  Is this normal?  Did any of you notice your hunger return during a stall, but then go away later?

Sometimes the body takes a break.  No real answer here for you. I think it is fairly normal to go through spurts of eating. In fact one of the ways to break a stall is to actually ewat more because the body goes into hibernation mode and wants to hold on to the fat etc. By easting more the body releases the fat because it doen't need it to survive.

I don't have an answer for you since I am so new at this myself.  I know that I have had periods of feeling very hungry just a few weeks after my surgery.  ONe thing I am sure of is that I don't know what real physical hunger always feels like.  I think I have become used to having emotional hunger and thinking I am hungry.  During those times you become excessively hungry, do you think it could be an emotional thing sometimes?

I was told that hunger was related to healing but I dunno.  Personally,  I've had a strong appetite since the beginning and that hasnt changed in the past 9 months.  A fellow RNY'er I know wants nothing to do with food at 18 mos out so I can say that everyone is different.  How this will affect long-term weight loss/maintenance I cannot say but I'd tend to think that those of us with a strong appetite may have to work a little harder down the road.  But staying active and continuing to make the right dietary choices can certainly fend off any re-gain. I don't know about you but I REFUSE to fail!
