New to OH: Howdy!
I had Lap RNY last August, 2007, and within three days had to be opened up because the lower stitching of my intestines unraveled and spilled nasty contents in my cavity. They left me open for 7 days and daily received a cleaning and salt packs, doc told my wife to call the family in - he wasn't going to be able to save me. At 48, with a precious wife and 2 elementary aged girls at home - that was bad news and I didn't agree with it so in spite 'em I kept on living and making 'em work on me! I developed a fistular, spent several months in icus, and after 15 surgeries had my final surgery to repair my intestines on May 2, 2008 where upon I'd been NPO for 6 mos. My go to food was 'anything they put in the damn bag,' I lost 100+ pounds, it's not hard when all you do is lay there. Started eating in June 2008, nothing makes me dump except overeating and drinking too quickly after a meal!
Personally, I wouldn't recommend the surgery to no one, I'd take the damn band if I could do it over, however, I had extreme complications, odds are like 10,000 to 1. I've got a nice long scar from the sternum to below my belly button. However, I'm in better shape today than I was before the surgery at 388, all my co-obesity symptons are gone i.e. Diabetes 2, joint pain, shortness of breath, sleep apnea, all gone - all except the occasional pangs of Gout - must be from all the protein I eat! My liquid intake is harder than hell to get in, I never realized how hard it is to drink 3 20 oz. bottles of liquid!
I take 2 multi-vitamin, Iron cap, 2 stool softeners, Prilosec cap, 2 cheweable calcium chocolate chews (walmart), daily. And every three days I take a dumping suppository for a bm.
My evils are always carbs like potato chips, pringle stix, peanut butter, popcorn (any flavor/any style) if it's there it's in my mouth, and sweets - candy, chocolate, cookies, cake, etc.. at least a bite or two! I've maintained under 200 and a wisp over 200 and I start back losing.
Preach.
I had a very similar problem with my RNY this January...long story short, few hrs after lap rny i had a leak, was opened from chest to belly button, cleaned out and then given Penecillin (even though I had a PCN allergy wristband on) which sent me right into respiratory and kidney failure that lasted 2 weeks...fun! Then when I woke up they must've figured I hadn't suffered enough so they gave me another wonderful drug called Haldol which basically gave me an extremely painful Parkison's-like side effect along with hallucinations, paranoia, etc...more fun! Anyway, I also kicked deaths ass (for a 2nd time actually - motorcycle vs. car in '92)
I take the same exact supplements as you minus the suppository (ouch). Im pretty lucky with the liquids I guess, I can down a 32 oz in about 15 mins...hopefully it gets better for you eventually...I remember how tough it was early out. I feel you on the carbs...I eat some FF Pringles every so often, they're addictive!
Keep up the good work man!

Weird!! Was this to treat nausea? I can't imagine why they'd give someone Haldol after being out cold for 2 weeks post-surgery, unless it was being used as a kind of "chemical straightjacket"! It's a very powerful antipsychotic drug, and severe extra-pyramidal symptoms, including Parkinson-like effects are not uncommon!

You never know who it is posting, you know. Geez, I guess there's more around with complications than just me and DXe. They did the medicine thing on me too, it's like the doctors think their **** don't stink sometimes and just to prove it, their going to screw up and dare a lawsuit!
Glad you are doing well, me too.
