Well guys, I made it through.  Had my sugery on Tuesday, Oct 28, got home on Sat, Nov 1st.  They kept me there an extra day because my pouch was swolen and I couldn't move to the full liquids stage of the diet.  Sipping on a protien drink as I write this and boy is it going down slow.  Hopefully this will give me some energy though.  Having nothing but Crystal light and water for a weak doesn't do much for your stamina.

Quick question, it seems each night around 8pm I start to develop a low grade fever, 101 degrees or so.  I walk and use my incentive spirometer to try to break the fever and it eventually breaks by morning, but do any of you have any idea why this would be happening or anyone experienced this.

Happy to join the losers bench.  Thought this day would never come.

Can't help you with the fever question, but I can encourage you to continue walking and sipping and being patient. My experience was that the first 10 days are by far the toughest. Life starts getting progressivly back to normal after the first 10 days.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.

Congrats welcome to the bench!!!!!!!!!

If you are in a lot of pain that could cause your fever. Don't mess around call your nurse. Who is your nurse Michelle or Nancy? A fever is nothing to mess around with. You will have your good days and bad but once you get them damn staples out you will feel great. Remember take it easy walk and sip liquids for the next 6 weeks. Dr. Sonpal is cool about getting his off time interupted him and Dr ben Mair work together andsplit the on call time. Do your best on avoiding the ER at St. V. All you do it is a hurry up and wait, and they run all kinds of unnecessary test. I must have spent over 7 hours there one night before they admitted me. Good luck and let me know how it works out.

Congrats Toddy and best of luck in your journey. New motto for you, and for the rest of us men-folk, to live by imo:

If in doubt, check it out!.

Call you doc about the fever if you haven't already.

Welcome to the other side brother!

I too was having fevers from day 1 and called my dr office.  They told me it had something to do with my lungs and that walking more often would resolve it.  Sure enough the fever broke.  Seems you are experiencing the same thing.

I was a lap/hand assisted RNY, and I had fevers too. But then again I also had three infections of the wound site. As others have said, have your Dr. check and don't mess around with a fever.
